when you're exhausted from travelling all day and having to deal with testy strangers and lots of standing on a crowded bus, and you finally drag your luggage into your lonely apartment and find on your usual seat at the kitchen table a whole lot of love.

Aurélie, Rikke, Holli, Sam, and Mel, thank you for the lovely Christmas cards. I'm looking forward to months and years of friendship to come. ♥

Tee, I don't even know what the hell this giant packet is, but it's kind of amazing. Thank you for the Nino! XD He will be on my keychain forever. ♥

Ves, KenKen got to me safe and sound. When I was at home, I happened to rewatch the interview on his DVD in which he talked about how hard it was to take a break for a year, so having his comeback magazine in my possession is especially wonderful. ♥ This is so, so special, seriously, so thank you. I will take good care of it!

Ugh, you guys. You guys. ;_; ♥♥♥

Also, I got a shiny new phone. It is so shiny and new~
ltgmars: ([kenken] umbrella)
Day One: Ten things you want to say to ten different people right now.
Day Two: Nine things about yourself.
Day Three: Eight ways to win your heart.
Day Four: Seven things that cross your mind a lot.
Day Five: Six things you wish you’d never done.
Day Six: Five people who mean a lot (in no order whatsoever).
Day Seven: Four turn offs. )
Day Eight: Three turn ons.
Day Nine: Two images that describe your life right now, and why.
Day Ten: One confession.

Cocoa Otoko.'s mini album came out, and it is lovely. There are really only three new songs on it, but it does come with a new PV, which you all will watch now:

I was watching the DVD earlier today and getting all nostalgic about watching Tenimyu in Osaka with Ves, Val, and Leigh. And how I was so good about containing my glee until the very end, when KenKen took a bow and I screamed for him. Ahaha. XD And then I followed Team V to the aquarium, and it was magical. ♥ Still one of the most wonderful days of my life.
ltgmars: ([arashi] nino ~ caught)
. today is my last day of work! Huzzah!

. Halley will be here next Wednesday! Huzzah!

. I have been watching the Ohoku trailer non-stop for the past few hours. (So, what's new, Inez? (Nothing much, apparently.)) ... h-huzzah?

. the Heaven's Rock photobook came, and KenKen and the rest of Cocoa Otoko. are just so. so. cute. I'll probably scan it, though I don't like getting my photobooks bent up like that. Usually I'm all for using things instead of just looking at them (my Nino 5x10 clear file has taken a beating in my backpack; my brother and I used to play adventure games about stocks and bonds with our Beanie Babies (yeah, I don't know)), and if I stick the photobook under some magazines or something it'll be okay, but still. Bending it like that hurts, somehow. Deep down in my soul. But the adorability must be shared! Huzzah!

. the last two volumes of the Full Metal Panic! light novel also arrived. Gatou-sensei has been writing this series since December 1998, and with parts 1 and 2 of Zutto, Stand By Me released (volumes 11 and 12 overall), it's finally over. Fantastic series, seriously. Action and adventure and suspense and sci-fi and mystery and comedy and romance and a strong, likeable female lead who's distinctive without being a caricature. Now I just have to learn a bunch of complex biological and military terms in Japanese so that I can read it from the beginning! Huzzah!

. the October issue of More has not yet arrived (boo! hiss!), but it should ship soon, hopefully. Unf! ... I mean, huzzah!

. I got a new external hard drive! Now I have three: 500GB (Athrun) for Kanjani8; 1TB (Kira) for A*ashi; 2TB (Asuka) for random Japanese media (j-dramas, movies, musicals, etc.). So much space! Huzzah!

"I hate it when..." Not quite pet peeves because they don't occur often enough, but still things that bother you by virtue of their happening.

I hate it when someone knows my name and I don't know his. Usually I'm pretty good about remembering people's names, but when you're one of the supposed "student leaders" on a small campus (Q: Big head much, Inez? A: Yes.), it's inevitable that you'll meet someone and introduce yourself with a, "Hi, I'm Inez," and he'll respond with an, "Oh, I know."

I hate it when I know that two highly-anticipated DVDs are on their way to me, but I don't know when they're going to arrive. KenKen's newest DVD and *rashi's PV DVD are in the mail, somewhere. I just don't know where. I've been checking the mail feverishly for the past few days, just to be heartbroken each time. Want them want them want them.

(Tag, you're it. "I hate it when...")

Basically the only way to get me to post is to make me make a new icon. Fun package full of goodies of the they-who-shall-not-be-named and KenKen variety came in, and one magazine photo shoot in particular inspired me to make a new icon (though I'm lazy and I piggybacked off another person's scans instead of scanning the magazine myself... Neenyay).

Speaking tangentially of which, I have more KenKen goodies (including another (earlier) CastPrix DVD and his latest photobook), which I'm thinking of sharing eventually. Usually someone else shares the photobook scans, so if that happens I won't be sharing them myself, but the CastPrix DVD has Nagayan in it, and it's pretty much amazing, so that eventually, maybe, once I clear off space on my hard drive.

Currently on fall break, yahoo. Visited Claire at Princeton for the weekend (lots of fun, lots of debauchery, A+ would do again except for the vomiting). Currently trying (and failing) to peel through some thesis research as well as more finalized grad school application plans. (Took the GRE. Didn't kill the GRE, but didn't get killed by the GRE. I'm envisioning from now on a mutual, standoffish relationship for the most part. B- would not take again.) But really, I've been spending a lot of time sleeping. So much sleeping. Planning to hire a personal cheerleader to yell at me: "Be! Productive! Be, be productive!"

Worth noting is that I am on financial lockdown, what up. Aside from the necessary expenditures and moneys owed, I'll be buying nothing. Nothing. :|

Watched the Yatterman movie. Truly, truly awful. I actually didn't watch maybe the last third or so; didn't really have the patience for it, and didn't foresee anything spectacular happening anyway.

I recently watched a drama called Haken no Oscar. It was only six episodes and not yet subtitled, but I watched it for Tokui Yoshimi (Tutorial). ♥ It's a story about a haken whose ideal lifestyle is that of Oscar from Rose of Versailles, and I felt like I was missing something since I'd never read the series. Haken no Oscar overall: kind of strange, kind of cute, didn't like the female lead's facial structure for a really long time.

Hey, it's October 14th. [One of my best friends from high school]'s birthday. I hate that kind of singular-plural-idea sentence construction, but it's so common. :/
ltgmars: ([arashi] nino ~ stadium)

It's June 17th in Japan, which means it's Nino Day! Happy Nino Day! (No cut for you, because on Nino Day, we're all bratty and obnoxious. ♥)

A question to my homeslices: Do you have any favorite celebrities? If so, who are they?

Mine are obviously Arashi collectively (Neen Bean in particular) and Kamakari Kenta. My favorite seiyuu will always be Seki Tomokazu, Miki Shinichirou, Suwabe Junichi ("Junichirou", failfailfail ahahaha), and Ishida Akira (my seiyuu tetrafecta, if you will). As far as people in the English-speaking world go, I point to my long-lasting love affairs with Matthew Broderick and Colin Firth. I'm also getting to be a fairly big fan of John Krasinski via interviews I've read/watched, but I haven't quite gotten to the comb-his-Wiki-and-follow-his-every-move point in my relationship with him, so. On top of that, I like to watch Blake Lively, but that's mostly based on her looks. (Because the rest of my celebrity favorites aren't based on their looks. Really.)

Honestly, I keep up with a very limited range of television and movies, most of it Japanese in nature (outliers being Gossip Girl, The Office, and Grey's Anatomy, though I'm behind on all of those anyway), so I don't know that many celebrities. But the ones I do know and like are all very nice to look at. Oh yeah, and talented, too.
ltgmars: ([kenken] antique melody)
(Warning: Even more esoteric than Arashi, though maybe not to certain people on my f-list.)

The feed for KenKen's blog, opening with a picture of him and Katou Kazuki, just showed up on LJ. Ahhhh, it's been a while, man. Made me really happy to see a picture of the two of them together.

Reminded me of their stupid days on MabeRadio, where they perved together and left Higuchi Chieko to rot on the side. God, I miss that show.
ltgmars: ([arashi] heart)
There it is, folks. Last semester I got KenKen in (with the janken clip). Today, I successfully worked Arashi into my Japanese presentation. I was talking about the history of Japanese dialects (as mentioned in an earlier post) and focused on Touhoku-ben, which gave me the perfect excuse to have a show-and-tell clip from Shukudai-kun 130 (the already-infamous Oppai Bakuhatsu Game episode) in which Ogura reads aloud some Akita-ben, and everyone's like, "No one knows what you're saying, bud." And then the quiz question I asked the class was which of the Arashi members is my favorite. Tanaka-sensei laughed, 「発表と関係ないよ!」("This isn't even related to your presentation!"), to which I responded, 「関係ありますよ。」 ("It is related.")

It was probably the best Japanese presentation I've had to date, or at the very least the most fun to deliver. I owe more than a little to the fact that I practiced diligently for hours, late into the night, until I could recite it half-asleep while I was lying on RFHG (Really Fucking Huge Bear, the giant teddy bear that Harrison and I found in a dumpster at the end of freshman year). Beyond that, I think everyone was able to contribute to the discussion and had fun talking about accents and dialects and such. So yay. For once I don't feel like weeping silently into my pillow the night after a failed presentation.

Meanwhile, my Development of Modern Japanese Nationhood presentation did not go as smoothly, which is fine because it was supposed to be a report on my "work-in-progress" (that is to say, "have-yet-to-write-a-word-of-it") research paper. My points were all over the place and I had no idea how to respond to any of the questions my classmates asked me, but it did give me a chance to see some holes (of the magnitude of a discontinuity in space-time) in my argument. So hopefully I'll be able to get that, along with the other research paper that I haven't written a word of, done and taken care of this week.

And mostly for Cami (because you're a whore for this song already), but other interested parties are welcome: Have you seen the Utaban performance of "Crazy Moon" yet? The dancing makes my heart go pitter-patter. They did mention at some point that it's been a while since they danced this much for a song, and it seems that this'll probably be the choreography for the PV. I especially like the crazy spazz-hand choreography after the two-minute mark, but that might be my bias talking. So. Yeah.
ltgmars: ([arashi] nino ~ beautiful days)
I still have about a day and a half in Japan, but I'm packing up my things and getting ready for the night bus which will lead to my eventual afternoon flight back to the States. As I'm pretty much finished collecting things, I've taken a picture of all of the fun and exciting goods I got. Actually not that fun and exciting, but artfully arranged on a small table, so maybe that makes up for it.

Follow me for picture and categorized list! )

All in all, V-I-C-T-O-R-Y.

ETA: Actually, decided to give Harrison the Pocket Monsters DVD. Instead, I'm keeping an adorable Pikachu movie short cine-manga (but in Japanese, so it's cool).

I went to the one tiny bookstore in Kaminoyama (where Isaac lives) and picked up the newly-released Mistress Fortune. Unlike the other Tanemura Ribon tankoubon, this one is really, really shiny and sparkly on the outside. It's going to be the new kid who doesn't fit in well with the rest of them in my box back at school. D: I did read the three chapters that were the main story, and upon second read, I think I like it a little better than I did before (even if I didn't quite understand all of it).

Mistress Fortune, etc. )

I saw the Tenimyu photobook, too, and oh how tempted I was, but I'm eventually getting a copy special-ordered through Akadot Retail, who've always been so good to me and so nice about special-ordering things, so I'd have to be a really terrible person to back out of this special-order now. I'll get it soon enough... :3

Beyond that, it's been quite nice and peaceful here so far. There've been a couple of colleague-parties that I've gone to with Isaac (last night I got a little sick from the boozin', though, because in Japan what you do is eat and drink and eat and drink and drink and drink, and you mix beer and wine constantly, and they keep making you drink, and I don't usually drink that much anyway so I wasn't used to it, and ugh my stomach was so full of nonsense that it had to come out), and sometime soon we're going to head into Yamagata city (adjacent to Kaminoyama) and see a town with actual people in it. :3

[To the authorities stalking my LJ: I am of legal drinking age in both US (21) and Japan (20).]

Next week is Tenimyu! :D :D :D I'm going with Leigh and others to Osaka to see Kenken in his natural habitat. Yay~ \o/ Thanks again to Leigh for this opportunity. ♥♥♥ I can't believe it's actually happening. *_*

After that, Isaac and I will be in Tokyo for a few days. On our list of places to go is Ueno, Akihabara, Asakusa, and I guess Shibuya. Anywhere else?

Anyway, I hope you all are having a lovely holiday season, wherever you are.
ltgmars: ([arashi] nino ~ beautiful days)
Too many. (Still on an Arashi kick, if you can't tell by the shiny new Nino icon. I'm starting to fear, though, that this "kick" is rapidly turning into fandom. Guh. How did this happen? I still don't buy the Ohmiya thing, though.)

But my heart will always belong to my beloved.

Now, back to papers. I have 14 hours to finish them. No problem.

(Please excuse the hair-antennae. I haven't been able to get them to behave for weeks.)

And I finally got the Air Gear Musical guide. Also shiny.

Back from the dead... ish. I hope everyone's been peachy since my last stint on LiveJournal.

In other, better news, KenKen's back, too! I have lots of old blog entries to read... :D :D :D

school update )

I've been watching The Office like nobody's business. Zipped through three seasons in two days. SO GOOD. Am now embarking on the fourth season. Pam and Jim are adorable. ♥

Need to sell things (old, unsold doujinshi and stuff). Buh.
ltgmars: (Default)
Maybe both.

Hyoumyu, Wintermyu, DL3, Rokkakumyu, DL4.
Airmyu, Airmyu II.
DVD events photos, RuiRui/KenKen event postcards.
Wintermyu postcard, DL3 postcard, PuriPuri D postcard.

I realize I'm missing some small things (PuriPuri D individual postcard, Happy Boys trading card, other Happy Boys stuff, maybe some other event photos I'm not aware of), but these are the major things I'm after, so as far as I'm concerned, my collection is complete. For now.

- I'm all moved into the apartment with Will and Harrison. It's just a matter of unpacking and organizing and stuff. Also, I need to find a dress and pearls so that I can be the 1950s housewife. I think I'm going thrift store shopping today, so hopefully I'll find something useful.

- I only have to work about four hours at the office every day. My other job consists mainly of working on a website and walking around campus, taking pictures and writing status reports. Winnar!

- I sent out the Champloo DVD and the Kamakari photoset to Sam (who apparently received hers already even though I sent it out freaking yesterday, WTF) and Anna respectively. The other three things are still around, if you want them.

- Photoset GETTO! でもお金はどこ?

Happy St. Valentine's Day!
A little lonely because special friend is several states away (and soon to be across an ocean for a few months), but he sent me tea and a pillow, and I sent him a quick video of me saying hello, and we talked on the phone and online a little. I guess it's good that I usually don't think much of St. Valentine's Day other than just a day where you get more candy than usual (and see all the cutesy couples, which always makes me so happy). :D

Also quite an interesting day academically, since Japanese was cancelled because the snow killed the Blue Bus and made it difficult for Mawrters to commute. But I still had chemistry, writing sem, and lab, blehblehbleh.

Actually, it's kind of funny now that I think about it. I think I made a bigger deal out of St. Valentine's Day when I was single than I do now that I'm (to quote Facebook) "in a relationship". And I feel like that must be how it is for most people. It's what gives St. Valentine's Day the happy title of Most-Hated Holiday.

Happy Kamakari Kenta's Birthday Day!
Self-explanatory. Also probably the most important day all month.

Happy Chinese New Year!
Celebratory picture of the inoshishi! )

I wish I had more to report, but things have been pretty busy at school. Lots of classing and working and teaing and sleeping. I've been keeping up with everyone's posts, though, because y'all are very important to me. :D

Anyway. Must write a heinously long letter now. Or take a nap.
