So who knew that I was starting Chinese this year? (Thankfully, I knew this.) We've only just started learning real words and putting sentences together. Up till now we've been going over basic sounds and Pinyin, which has been all right. I haven't yet cried myself to sleep over the heartbreak of tones, either, so things are looking good so far. I was pretty close, though, after one time in class when the professor went over a ridiculous poem consisting only of the sound "shi" in various tones that ended up having to do with ten lions and eating and what? My friend mumbled to me incredulously, "I bet she's making this all up," and the professor, employing her superhero hearing, replied, "I didn't make this up! It's real Chinese!"

The professor's a little intimidating, actually, but she's still pretty cute. Nonetheless, I'm not a huge fan of the "tough love" thing, and it's frustrating when as a class we have to repeat things over and over again because she can hear one person mixing up the sounds. But it's good practice, I suppose, and hopefully sometime soon I'll be able to say... things.

My Chinese name is 蘇荷, Sū Hé. The first character means "revive; come to; a surname", and the second character means "lotus". Put those together and I'm not quite sure what you get...

Chinese is pretty interesting so far, but Japanese is still my favorite. 'cause seriously, who needs a mistress when you've got a loving, faithful, smokin' hot wife to begin with?

It's fun so far. I guess the thing is that I have more of a personal attachment to Japanese.

D'you have any Chinese pop or something I can listen to?

I can say...
あなた が すきつ (That means I like you, right?)

Bonne chance, cherie. I've heard that Chinese has one tense and is hierarchical. Now, just enjoy pronouncing/reading/comprehending orally.

Hahahaha, that's so poetic. *____* Though I also kind of imagine being a flower that people smell to wake up. Like those smelling salts after someone's passed out.

I have so much power. *_*
