Um, yeah, not much here, but we get to see the venue. It's pretty damn big.
Unlit stage. I never even saw the big As until way later in the concert.
So many people... Also, does anyone know what time in the day the concert started? It's in September, so it's still light out for a while theoretically, but I'm curious.

To Jun's credit, I think he's the one in the group who can pull off the long coats best. And by "pull off" I don't mean "take off", contrary to what he may believe.
Beautiful Ohno and his beautiful singing. Also, beautiful sequins. In addition, may I add that I appreciate that his sleeves are the same length this time? His sleeves are different lengths for "Song for Me" (from the Time album), which kind of takes away from the experience. Hard to take a guy seriously dancing his heart out when it looks like he wasn't able to pay for another square foot of material. :/
Yayay! Nino's arm is especially interesting in the second screenshot. Don't know why.

I think someone spilled a bunch of primary colors on the stage... they should get that cleaned up before Arashi gets there.
I was thinking about commenting on how Nino's outfit looks half-decent, but he forgot to detach his gold-plated Christmas wreath from his waist.
Okay, group shot, finally. (As you might have guessed, I took the screenshots first and am struggling to come up with decent things to say retroactively.) Firstly, the blown kisses are adorable. Every loves on Jun while Jun ignores them and prostitutes himself to the audience. Typical Arashi.
And now, outfit talk: I like this set, to some extent. The yellow color scheme is bright but at the same time unassuming, especially within the context of a monochrome. Yellow is a good way to start a concert, I think, because it's not a stupid color. Aiba looks like a negative-space waiter at a two-star restaurant (with his apron on backwards), and Ohno looks like a fanciful lumberjack, but beyond that the outfits suit the boys. They look shiny and high-quality, as they should, especially when there's a stark contrast between black and white. Beyond the clothes, the yellow shoes are kitschy-cute, though the various jeweled and sequined adornments do little for me. I'm not sure what the gloves are supposed to do.
Neener, you should get those teeth checked out if they're bothering you that much.
I find that I've taken a decent amount of gratuitous Ohno shots, too.It's the hair. It's like some mysterious force is pulling me in. :D

Every time I look at him I think about how he must be amazing in bed. (Not that I think of him that way. Really. There's nothing I can say here to make you believe me.) Outfit talk: The orange and brown go well together because they're both ugly-as-shit colors. Or so I'd like to think. Part of that might be a residual reaction from when I was afraid of the color orange, and part of it might be bitterness at my mother for buying me this orange striped shiny dress-shirt monstrosity while I was still afraid of the color orange. Either way, these outfits are interestingly-shaped. The scarfy-layer things whip in the wind nicely and are great fun when used as strangulation devices. Beyond that, the way the clothes fit on our boys is pretty nice. They're loose without being bulky, which is good for skinny Japanese men. Also, please note that Aiba is wearing capri-type pants. This will be a trend (an awful, terrible trend that never needs to catch on) as the concert progresses.

First solo! And it's starting off with I'm not quite sure what, but it's appropriately colorful.

Outfit talk: This outfit is perfect for Aiba, and perfect for this song and its vibe. It's fun and colorful and flashy and goofy, and you just want to play handclap games with him for the rest of your life. Never have I held rainbow-colored stars and butterflies against pink-and-purple plaid in higher regard.
The yellow of the backup dancers off-sets the bright color nicely, too.

I mentioned earlier that I would go more into my thoughts on Aiba's dancing, but I'm actually waiting till later, so that I can talk about all of their dancing all at once. Despite appearances and crappy non-comments, I've actually thought this Spazz Fest through to some extent.

And it's not like I dislike him or anything (I think he's really funny and genuinely a joy to watch), but he doesn't have any kind of particular trait that appeals to me.
This is kind of cool, though. I've tried playing a harmonica once. You have to use your tongue. (More fic fodder, if I cared at all about him.)
I... really don't know what to say. I enjoy his solos (besides the anti-Christ of music, "Hitsuji wo Kazoetemo Yoru wa Owaranai") and I like seeing him in variety shows and whatnot, but he just doesn't stand out to me. I guess so much of this Spazz Fest is based on physical characteristics and behaviors, so because he doesn't stand out physically for me, I don't have much to say.
He's cute like a puppy, though, and that I can appreciate.

Yay! Look at those beautiful boys singing a beautiful song. I'm glad they performed this. Now, something I would love to hear them perform is "LIFE" from the Time album. They didn't even perform it during that concert.

There are no words for how happy I was that they performed this song. The "Happiness" single collectively is my favorite Arashi single, with my favorite A-side and two of my favorite B-sides. I can see why they didn't sing "Snowflake", but "Still"! YAY~! :D

Nino's armpit hair is less of a presence than the armpit hairs of the others. Also, I really enjoy his "irasshaimase" thing.

I think part-way through my screenshot madness, I started feeling guilty about neglecting this fellow (because Nino's my fave, and then Ohno's my second (and besides, I'm taking plentiful screenshots for a certain lady out there), and Sho has a lot of camera time, and I like to make fun of Jun). And we end this song (as well as this outfit set) with what could easily be edited into an Ohmiya moment. Nino jumps up and flies away, and Ohno watches, proudly and wistfully.

Ninoninonino! I think my favorite Nino "La tormenta" clip (or just my favorite "La tormenta" in general) is from the One concert, where Nino takes off the big traffic-cone-shininess overcoat and does a standing backflip. So cool. ><

Outfit talk: The orange and brown go well together because they're both ugly-as-shit colors. Or so I'd like to think. Part of that might be a residual reaction from when I was afraid of the color orange, and part of it might be bitterness at my mother for buying me this orange striped shiny dress-shirt monstrosity while I was still afraid of the color orange. Either way, these outfits are interestingly-shaped. The scarfy-layer things whip in the wind nicely and are great fun when used as strangulation devices. Beyond that, the way the clothes fit on our boys is pretty nice. They're loose without being bulky, which is good for skinny Japanese men. Also, please note that Aiba is wearing capri-type pants. This will be a trend (an awful, terrible trend that never needs to catch on) as the concert progresses.

First solo! And it's starting off with I'm not quite sure what, but it's appropriately colorful.
Oh, it's Aiba. I get it.

I appreciate that the lights match Aiba's outfit.
Outfit talk: This outfit is perfect for Aiba, and perfect for this song and its vibe. It's fun and colorful and flashy and goofy, and you just want to play handclap games with him for the rest of your life. Never have I held rainbow-colored stars and butterflies against pink-and-purple plaid in higher regard.
The yellow of the backup dancers off-sets the bright color nicely, too.
And it's a fun song, yay. (God, why do I have nothing to say about this?)
I mentioned earlier that I would go more into my thoughts on Aiba's dancing, but I'm actually waiting till later, so that I can talk about all of their dancing all at once. Despite appearances and crappy non-comments, I've actually thought this Spazz Fest through to some extent.

Shoes. Ridiculous shoes. I'd call them kids' shoes (what, with the velcro and the pastel coloration and all), but he has manly leg hair, and it ruins the effect somehow.

"Hello Goodbye" on the back. A little reminiscent of "Yabai Yabai Yabai", methinks. But for once, Jun was actually kind of cool in that one.
I have astoundingly little to say about this man. He kind of drifts away from the consciousness in the face of the other members of Arashi. And it's not like I dislike him or anything (I think he's really funny and genuinely a joy to watch), but he doesn't have any kind of particular trait that appeals to me.
This is kind of cool, though. I've tried playing a harmonica once. You have to use your tongue. (More fic fodder, if I cared at all about him.)
I... really don't know what to say. I enjoy his solos (besides the anti-Christ of music, "Hitsuji wo Kazoetemo Yoru wa Owaranai") and I like seeing him in variety shows and whatnot, but he just doesn't stand out to me. I guess so much of this Spazz Fest is based on physical characteristics and behaviors, so because he doesn't stand out physically for me, I don't have much to say.
He's cute like a puppy, though, and that I can appreciate.
"Subarashiki Sekai"
Yay! Look at those beautiful boys singing a beautiful song. I'm glad they performed this. Now, something I would love to hear them perform is "LIFE" from the Time album. They didn't even perform it during that concert.

The pink really does something for Sho's hyper-masculinity.
It's really interesting to watch them sing slow, sitting songs because they're all in the same position with slight variations.
Nino, for example, makes me GUH all the way down to my toes.
Sho looks a little detached but nice enough, and I'm happy Jun has his eyes closed because I don't know how comfortable I am with him licking his lips and squirming at me.
Ohno is kind of facing away, but this way we get to see his plasma profile.
I swear, his hair gets fluffier and fluffier every screenshot.
Oh, I guess Aiba came in at some point. He's wearing something with a six-inch waistband because he doesn't believe in real pants.

I also like it when other members sing along when it's not their turn. Though as far as I know, only Aiba has actually done it into a microphone. XD
Ohno's voice is pretty wonderful, too. I wonder how I got this far in the Spazz Fest without mentioning it specifically. Vocal control, power, tone, pitch. Sasuga Riida!

Outfit talk: I love these outfits. Of course, I'm partial to any set that has them in their colors, but the colors this time are light, subtle, and classy (besides the random big-ass flowers, and even those aren't obstrusive enough to take away from the overall effect). They all look so good. I could take them home with me and make them into Easter eggs. Also, Nino in a vest? Yes? Yes.

Lookit the pretty streaking lights! I'd like to reiterate (that is, if I iterated in the first place) how impressed I am with this stage. Like, the physical stage itself is incredible, even if you ignore all of the fun waterworks/pyrotechnics/everything else to come.

Maybe compared to Ohno's hands, Nino's are a little short and stubby, but I think they suit him. I can't imagine his having long, slender, graceful prongish fingers.

Where was it that people were talking about how Sho looks less muscly when he's wearing clothes? I think in general he isn't the most muscular person ever; it's just comparatively noticeable, because our boys are skinny and compact.

There are no words for how happy I was that they performed this song. The "Happiness" single collectively is my favorite Arashi single, with my favorite A-side and two of my favorite B-sides. I can see why they didn't sing "Snowflake", but "Still"! YAY~! :D

Date: 2009-04-08 20:28 (UTC)Firstly, let me just say that I'm happy that you find these posts amusing. Sometimes I read over a freshly-penned comment and think about how my sense of humor probably appeals to five year olds. BTDubs, I judge you now.
I don't know what it is about Jun that makes him so easy to make fun of. Maybe because he was so adorably awkward as a child, and he's still the baby of the group despite being the most popular (according to all kinds of surveys and magazines and whatnot). It's the gap between where he should stand as the youngest in the group and where he actually stands as a professional personality. It's his pretty face + his DoS attitude. I guess it's that he tries to be all cool, but really, he's in Arashi -- everyone knows that he's just as big a dorkwad-dweebus as the rest of them.
Also, it's probably because I hate him. (Nino answers do make things easier!)
I think Ohno's lack of eyeliner is a reminder to all of his conquests that he's still a man (an old one at that), even if he's shorter and smaller and cuter than all of them. In the end, he's going to be sitting slouched on the sofa, burping and scratching his belly and trying (without succeeding) to grow sophisticated facial hair.
Nino. I love every face he makes. I love that he makes fun of the other members relentlessly. I love that his hair is usually relatively short and normal for an idol. Ah, Nino. ♥
