meme and such
Jun. 1st, 2010 09:261. It's been a while since I've done a meme, so here's that one that's going around (should have used protection).
FIRST: If you've been tagged, you must write your answers in your own LJ and replace any question that you dislike with a new, original question.
Favourite song right now
Typical, but "Monster" by Arashi would be it. I don't think you understand how much I like this song. It's my favorite since "Step and Go" or maybe even since "Happiness", and "Happiness" is my all-time favorite.
Last album you bought/downloaded
Album? I can't remember when I last downloaded an album. Maybe it was Shiina Ringo's Sanmon Gossip so that I didn't have to rip my own copy. Oh, wait, I bought the Backstreet Boys' latest album when it came out in the fall. Ahaha.
What's the last movie you watched? Did you like it?
[Fixed the question so that it's not grammatically stupid.] The Notebook. During finals week. I was bored and wanted a good cry. (Clearly I like it because I bought it to watch whenever I need a good cry.) Last movie I saw in theatres was probably Sherlock Holmes for a second time, over winter break. I like that one, too. (Bought the DVD the other day. My brother was with me at Best Buy and asked, "How many times do you need to see that movie?" I just smiled at him and calmly took the DVD off the shelf.)
What is a little piece of happiness?
Big piece of happiness, actually, is Masterballs. I haven't been this into an RP since ever. Pulled a complete all-nighter the other day for Matsumiya. Who saw that one coming? (Chele did, obviously.)
Two items closest to you
Emotionally or physically? Physically, it would be my Haverford mug/cup/thermos (this morning we have french vanilla tea) and the computer next to me. That's what you get for working in an office with five computers used by one man. Oh, Father. (Emotionally, it would be my stuffed Pikachu, who has turned green/brown with ~*~love~*~, and...? I don't know. I like a lot of my stuff.)
Name your favorite drama
Yamada Tarou Monogatari. I watch it whenever I need happy tears or I want to fawn over adorable Neen. I also bought the box set (you'll notice that I buy things I like), which was stupidly expensive for ten episodes, but that's just how they roll in Japan. The extras also have the moment where Sho pinches Nino's palm because he's taken by the hamburger cuteness, and the world screams Sakumiya and I'm like, "Damn straight, world."
Things you're excited for next year
California. I hear that the amount of bounce in California exceeds the bounce that all other locations have combined. Also, graduate school. The course list for fall quarter came out, and I'm hoping to take (as long as they don't collide schedulely) Modern Chinese Literature, Early Modern Japanese History (1600-1868), and Intro to Classical Japanese (hell yes).
Your favorite ice cream flavor
Vanilla or strawberry or cookies 'n' cream. Pretty standard.
Guiltiest pleasure
[I'm annoyed that the "P" in "Pleasure" is capitalized when the rest of the questions haven't had that formatting, so I'm fixing it.] Guiltiest pleasure is probably Gossip Girl, haha. Except that I don't feel too guilty about it.
Favorite color
Blue and red. They're also the most common colors in my wardrobe -- when I separate laundry, it goes lights, darks, reds, and blues.
If you could rescue any animal what would it be and would you keep it?
What? Like, from extinction? Or from a tree? Or from itself? This is a strange question. I like cats, though.
Worst drama you've ever seen
Minami-kun no Koibito. Sorry, Neen. You and your relationship with six-inch Fukada Kyoko just didn't do it for me. I'm also pretty sure that I didn't cry, and I always cry. That's the mark of a bad drama there.
Best way to relax
Reading. I don't do much nowadays. Sometimes I just want to turn the world off and read until I'm done reading, but there are constantly things happening, and it's so hard to escape since an inevitable return to the world would be much more difficult if you weren't already keeping up with it while you were away.
Are there any bits of childhood that you miss?
Backyard sports. We used to live in an apartment complex with a really nice yard behind our apartment, and my brother, dad, and I used to climb trees or play soccer and the like. There was this one game we used to play called "moving target", where someone would stand in the space between three trees, which were bases, and he had to throw a ball to tag one of the runners to make him the shooter. It was nothing but silly, simple games, but they were silly, simple times, and I'm always nostalgic for them. Nowadays there just isn't time for backyard sports, though the other day I played basketball in the driveway with my brother.
Winter, spring, summer, or fall?
[Reformatted this question to match James Taylor's "You've Got a Friend".] I don't dislike any season, but I like spring the most. Love, rejuvenation, and all that good stuff.
If you had to spend time in prison for any crime, what would it be?
Jay walking. Or cutting some bitches for being bigots.
What celebrity's kids do you wanna have?
None, really. Yesterday I found one of my old high school planners with pictures of Colin Firth taped to the back cover, so maybe him, haha. Or Mr. Darcy.
What's really scary?
The dark. I can deal with it when I have my back against a wall and don't have to move, but my paranoia gets to me in the dark. Whenever I have to sleep with a light off (like in a hotel room with my family) and I wake up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom, I wait until my eyes have adjusted and I can see things before I get up. Freshman year, my friends used to come into my room and turn my light off for me after I fell asleep. (In more recent years, I'm usually the one who doesn't sleep at night, so no one's been able to turn off my light for me.)
SECOND: If you want to do it, do it. (It used to be "tag eight people", I think.)
2. Happy June!
3. I spent all day yesterday cleaning my room. Well, part one of three. I gutted my closet and my night stands and reorganized a bunch of my grade school/high school/college notebooks, trinkets, etc. I also have a giant trash bag filled with things that I don't need (because honestly, who's going to care that I got a 97 on a math test in sixth grade?). Now my stuff actually fits, and it's pretty wonderful.
Part two is my books (tonight). I had to get a second bookshelf for the ones I brought back from school, but hopefully they'll all fit somewhere. (But hey, don't be fooled by the rocks that I got. I'm the kind of person, unfortunately, who buys books but doesn't have time to read them, so I have all these unread books sitting on my bookshelf. Bookshelves.) Part three, scheduled for Wednesday night, is my clothes, which will include picking out clothes that don't fit me and giving them to a local charity.
4. Harrison (my new computer; that's what you get for being cheeky and telling me to name something after you) is hopefully going to be in today. More updates on that later, I'm sure.
5. Have a good day, everyone!
ETA: This entry makes me feel so materialistic. All I did was talk about things that I have or that I bought, or mention that I have to organize my giant collection of books or do such and such with my excess goods. It's like I'm bragging that I have things or buy things. I don't know. D:

Date: 2010-06-01 13:59 (UTC)Neen!bias is prevalent in my life. I think my parents have given up on me because of it.
And yes to meme!condoms, please. Usually I can get away with not catching anything when memes go around, but this one was especially persistent.

Date: 2010-06-02 02:07 (UTC)I really should go to a college that's NOT in Maine. The only Asia-related courses are Beginning Japanese I, II, and Traditional, Modern East Asia .____.

Date: 2010-06-02 12:18 (UTC)To be fair, this is grad school at a place with a pretty good East Asian Studies department, so they're bound to have a lot of different courses. It should be fairly different from my undergrad experience.
