a quick list of things I hate

I hate that there has to be a day for this. I hate that there are kids out there who feel that hopeless. I hate that there are kids out there who make them feel that way. I hate that there are people who feel as if they have the right to discriminate against other people. I hate that there are people of all ages, all over the world, denied the right to be happy, to love, to be loved, for fucking no good reason at all.

I hate that people think that this kind of bullying and discrimination is only a recent development. I hate that it has a history. I hate that gay rights has become a kind of fad. I hate that it's taken this long for so many people to catch on.

I hate that sometimes I still don't know what I can do for the queer community.

I hate that people hate.

I hate that there are people out there on the receiving end of anger, malevolence, violence, hatred, who did nothing to deserve it. I hate that I can barely type right now because I'm shivering and crying so hard over something that shouldn't be happening.


I'm wearing purple today. I wish I didn't feel so helpless.

Ugh, that's totally it. That's what's kind of awful about this. I love the solidarity and the outpouring of support and the whole "making a statement" thing. But for so many people, it starts and ends today, and tomorrow they'll just go about their business as usual.

While I can't be happier that this kind of thing drums up awareness and sheds light on what's happening and gives people an opportunity to show how they feel, it's still so... superficial. And the kind of hardship that this community faces isn't just a one-day, superficial, "band-aid" issue.

Anyway, I don't know why I ranted at you. Sorry about that, heh. I know you know this already, so. ♥

... girl. Why didn't you say anything? If you don't want to be friends or something, s'cool, whatever, I get it, but really! If you've been lurking for that long, you must find me passably tolerable, and that's, like, the main basis of friendship for me.

You are beautiful for wearing purple, and for feeling the way you do about it. I actually said something along those same lines on Facebook, heh. I'll wear purple or rainbows or billboards or anything, for as long as it takes to get all of these hateful people to wake up and change for the better.

That video made me cry, but that means it made an impact, so. ♥
