Aug. 3rd, 2006 13:08I was walking down the hall today and saw a little project that someone did for school. It was one of those cute "what do your parents do at work?" things, complete with a scribbled drawing on the top and misshapen letters on super-sized, double-lined writing paper. A few sentences in, she says something about her dad's "awsome office", and I thought to myself, "People say 'awesome' in first grade nowadays?" It was always so odd to say "awesome" when I was that age, you know, back when "awesome" was still a surf's-up, hang-ten kind of word, but I guess it really is more common now.
My generation's it word was definitely "cool", and I say it often enough. I say "awesome", too, but that's just because I'm highly suggestible, and I'm a product of society. :D I wish I were in the generation of "gnarly", because as it is now, I'm the only one who giggles when someone describes a tree that way.
They've restocked the coffee room with hot chocolate. THANK GOD. Coffee is putrid. How anyone can drink it black is beyond me.
