BLEACH movie
Jun. 14th, 2008 14:58I just watched the first BLEACH movie (slow, I know). I wasn't really thinking anything about it, even after having seen the movie poster for a screening in one of the Philly theatres, but the kids at ANN recently reviewed it, so I decided to sniff it out and watch it myself.
Now, it's been a year or more since I've touched anything having to do with BLEACH. I stopped paying attention to the anime since Conclave dropped it (at episode 49), and I haven't read any of the manga for a long, long time. Last I remember, I was somewhere in the beginning/middle stages of the arc after Soul Society. I think I might want to get caught up this summer, but that means rereading 30+ volumes.
Not that I mind. Ichigo's still really, really, really easy on the eyes.
At any rate, I went into the movie figuring I shouldn't be too worried about spoilers (which was true). I also figured it didn't matter anyway since it was just one big filler episode. Which was also true.
My favorite part might have been the ending theme. Not that that's any indication of how good/bad the movie is -- I've consistently loved BLEACH opening and ending themes, and the same was true here, even if the band name is "Aqua Timez".
But seriously, BLEACH production team, I would have liked some moment to be memorable enough to beat out the ending theme, no matter how good it is (and wow, is it good). True, some of the fight scenes were great to watch (the scene [spoilers] after Rukia used her Sode no Shirayuki, when the sakura petals started floating by, got me squealing with excitement), and it was fun to see old faces. But overall, the movie was fairly mediocre for me.
Maybe I'm expecting more out of movies now. I mean, I don't expect to find every answer I've been searching for (42?), but I'd like it to leave some kind of impression, even if it's something as simple as, "Wow, that was a lot of fun to watch!" (Bourne Identity, which I watched with my apartmentmates last weekend? Wow, that was a lot of fun to watch!) This time, though, it was kind of like, "Okay, I watched a movie. Life goes on."
Still, I'm thinking that I really want to get caught up with BLEACH. The manga has always impressed me much more than the anime does.
It doesn't hurt that Ichigo's preeetttyyy good-looking.

My thoughts of reasoning exactly XDDD I've lost contact with Bleach for maybe almost 3 years now! But i never mind me some good Ichigo, ohohoho (or Renji, for that matter).

Date: 2008-06-14 23:23 (UTC)I kind of want an end, though. There are a lot of things that developed early on (like the part with Grand Fisher? Is that his name?) that deserve to be resolved. (Though for all I know, they've already been resolved. I doubt it, though.)
