The title used to be "Spazz Digest", but since this isn't much of a digest of anything -- I'd probably say that most of this has been left undigested and unabridged -- I've changed the title to "Spazz Fest". It comes in a few parts because I really did take too many screenshots, and having them load all at once would be a doozy. Also, LJ has stupid character limits.
Apologies for the crappy screenshots. I'm bad at timing things well, and the problem with capping straight from the DVD is that sometimes we get interlacing artifacts. Though I guess it's good, since that made me scrap a bunch of other pointless screenshots that I would have added to the already unnecessarily-large pile.
Also, excuse my bias. It's... really obvious.
Part 1 - Arashi's Fight in Kokuritsu

Heading out into the stadium.

Yellow shoes!

Sakuraiba: Sho just wants an excuse to grab Aiba's flowy clothy thing.

ShoxOC: The guy just wants an excuse to touch Sho's inseam.

Picture! Oh-chan!

Stoic.

... was this outfit set even in the concert?

Ohmiya: Though Nino's the one leaning, it was Ohno who scooted closer to him.

I'd like to take this moment to point out that Sho has carefully coordinated his pink shirt to blend subtly with his plaid oxford.

He has also coordinated his dark colors.

Dork.

Sho excitedly shows us his shoes.

It's kind of neat, though. I wonder if they smelled funny.

This is less about Aiba and more about the guy at the bottom-right of the screen. He looks really uncomfortable, like his bladder is about to explode.

Good picture.

Haha, aww. I almost feel bad at laughing at him for all of the stupid stuff he says.

Can we talk about how wonderful it is when they all do things that are so... normal? I guess I end up thinking of them as super-idols (which they are, yeah?), but I forget that they, too, enjoy taking pictures of things that they want to remember.

What's that on your hat there, Jun?

Tenipuri moment: SHISHIDO!

One of many group shots in which Nino is in the foreground.

The "drumming along with an epic song" thing is just the kind of thing I do, too. (Nino, we're soulmates. Kya.) Though I mostly do it with the opening theme of The Office (US) which isn't super-epic, but drummable enough.

Oh-chan looks so dramatic here. He's in Maou mode now.

So instead of wearing glasses and then taking them off for the last line, he should have worn a towel and ripped it ferociously from his head, letting his hair sing into the wind. The audience would have loved it.

No comment, really. Just one of what will be many gratuitous Nino shots.

I couldn't decide which of these I liked best, so I kept them all...

(See previous comment.) Ohmiya in an elevator sounds like a fanfiction that I'm probably going to write. Also, please note that I'm firmly in the school of "scrawny Japanese boys look awkward with their shirts off" thought. But Nino's hair is so pretty here, and Ohno smiles so affectionately...

Sho hatches a plot,

coughs on Ohno (note Nino's displeased "I'ma slapabitch" look here),

and gets away with it because he's adorable.

Though Ohno does say he's "the lowest".

Ohno is also impressed with the stadium, taking pictures as the staff members look on apprehensively.

I'm going to take this moment to talk about baseball caps. See, what I usually do when I wear a baseball cap is that I have it fit snug to my head, all the way around. It feels better that way, I think. But Ohno, as well as countless others, wear them slightly off the skull. But my question is... what's the point?

Before the first concert. I'll admit, Jun's pep-up speech was good.

I would be lying if I told you that I cared at all that Jun was in this picture.

Oh!!

Neenerpants, you slay me. ILUSM.

What's that on your hat there, Jun? Pink version.

Random chatting never looked so good.

Cool view.

More comments on Ohno's head-covering methodology: What's with the little rings on the side? Did they come with the hat? Is that trendy? (I really want to know.)

They're members. Congratulations.

Ohno calls this "kakkoii". He says so to Nino, too. ♥

Watch talk, part one: Men have such big watches. And it's Ohno, so we know it's not to compensate for a lack of skill or anything.

Though Sho has a big watch, too, so maybe there is some compensation involved there. (Ooh, burn.)

He looks pretty cool when he's rapping, though.

"Ah, Aiba-chan." So precious.

Nino kinda looks good with his hat askew.

This is Jun's future. Not so pretty now, are ya?? (I should stop the Jun-hate, but it's so fun.)

Oh yeah, you push that button, Ohno.

Oh-chan's such a busy beaver. In other news, shit man, I have to come up with comments for all of these?

It was "bring your gimmick day" at the recording studio. Ohno had a particularly fantastic sleepy morning.

Jun brought an exercise ball, somehow maintaining his composure despite the rhythmic bouncing.

Aiba, as always, couldn't remember even the simplest lyrics. (Hahahaha, I laughed so hard when he wrote that question mark. Oh, Aiba.)

(A break in the narrative because Nino's so pretty.)

Nino fiddled with cards between takes.

Yep, more Nino... He looks so small and cute on the chair.

Who could it be?!

Oh yeah, you push that key down, Ohno.

Being Asian, Sho couldn't resist taking a picture.

Being extremely gay for Nino, Ohno and Aiba quietly listened to the magic of Nino's fingers on the piano keys.

Somehow this is the first time I've noticed during this viewing, but Sho looks good with short hair.

d00d, cool.

They may or may not be striking poses.

They may or may not be wearing pink.

Apparently it's a hot day.

More towel play on Nino's part. I don't quite understand how it's wrapped around the head in such a way, but I'm sure it's simple enough if I think about it. (Really, I just don't feel like thinking about it.)

Nino really doesn't like taking his shirt off, methinks.

Neither does Ohno. THEY'RE IN LOVE.

Note that Ohno has moved to stand next to Nino, and that they're smiling and adorable and both clothed. My tin hat's having a pretty good time right now.

As his eyes glazed lazily over the recording, Nino let his mind wander. During a lull in the monologue, he remembered something he'd been meaning to say to Ohno.

Leaning over to the other man, he whispered,

"Your mom."

Ohno smiled to himself. Nino always knew how to make him feel good.

And I took this screenshot because Aiba looks really cute with his head tilted like that, but Ohno looks just as good, primping like that.

Member love. So beautiful.

So here's the thing about Jun. One of the reasons I don't like to watch him in concerts is because he always takes his shirt off (or unbuttons it or something) at some point. And his body is kind of awkward to look at for me. He has super-broad shoulders and a super-skinny middle -- like a swimmer, except that he doesn't swim. Also, he always winks and squirms and licks his lips, but that's just a general behavioral thing (as opposed to a bodily thing). And while his pretty face is where he'd be able to regain any lost ground because of the "look at my chest IT'S RIGHT HERE SPARKLING FOR YOU" thing, he ruins it all by constantly doing that stuff.

Ohno looks so good in a tank top. Also, while this is the first time I've mentioned it here, I think we've all known for a while: his Maou-era hairstyle is wonderful.

:D

It was really interesting to see how they pulled this off, actually.

See? This is good. Just smile like that.

Shiny stage.

Shiny Sho. Alliteration.

Ohno flaps his wings. He's finally able to soar. (Or, dare I say it, ready to fly?)

Nino, yay!

Another lovely chat session.

And then Nino makes fun of Ohno. ♥

This is where Jun wonders to himself how he'd look with a mustache.

I kind of feel bad for the fans who weren't able to get in, but at least they got to see the back goings-on.

All hail Ohno's hair.

All hail Nino, descended from heaven.

This was in all of the CMs, and for good reason. Awesome, awesome.

Another gratuitous Nino shot. This time, Sho's the accessory.

Oh-chan. Frumpfrumpfrump.

It's cool, man. This contraption.

I wonder how many screenshots I got of Ohno primping.

FIRE. </pyro-mode>

For once, Ohno isn't the laziest-looking one in the bunch.

Did I mention the gratuitous Nino shots?

Haha, Jun. ♥ as long as you stop being weird during concerts.

Bathed in golden light. The lighting for this concert is also pretty spectacular. Also, the camera work. All essential to a good DVD.

The random "pained noises" sequence makes more sense when you realize what Nino's shirt looks like.

Nino's sideburn thingies are so fluffy.I want to touch them.

Gratuitous Ohno shots, too, because his face is so adorable.

Before the second run.

Ohmiya. They still love each other. ♥ I had to try so many times to get a good screenshot of this, but this is all I could get.

More gratuitous Nino, wet and dry. ♥
Part 2 - Concert: "OVERTURE" to "Still"
Part 2.5 - Concert: "Still" Moment, Take Two
Part 3 - Concert: "Lucky Man" to "Kaze no Mukou e"
Part 4 - Concert: "Re(mark)able" to "Ichioku no Hoshi"
Apologies for the crappy screenshots. I'm bad at timing things well, and the problem with capping straight from the DVD is that sometimes we get interlacing artifacts. my response: tl;dr ... like a sakurap
Date: 2009-04-05 06:42 (UTC)q: i wonder if they [the shoes] smelled funny?
a: were they sho's shoes? yes? yes.
does the boy know you and neenpeen are soulmates? hm? hmmmm?
oh boy, kazu's nipples sure are interesting, huh satoshi? ... they're so small. these japanese men are such small people! i get weirded out when i think about how i out-measure and weigh them generously.
oh, i have a special affection for the awful orangeish adidas jackets.
okay, in this screencap:
nino is absolutely not in the mood. [eyes tinhat gingerly]. i love these bitchy candid moments the most. also, ohno speaks like an old man - as always.
may i confess a deep love for jun that emerges only when watching concerts? i love how he loves it; hamming it up. also, he looked fantastic this go-round.
may i
earn your favourpoint out that nino still looks best without makeup? ohno ... really benefits from hair-make artistry, but kazu is lovely either way.is nino... a girl? i still have to stop and wonder, although less often than i used to.
O H M I Y A. oh, no matter how many times i try to deny it, it proves itself to be IRL. [lovingly dusts off tin hat, enjoying the quiet, abrasive sound. it feels good.]
more guffawing from me. i thought i was the only one who still found your mom to be an a+ zinger.
can we talk about how ohno is constantly primping? (inez: no. stop leaving me comments.) ah, i need to make a fanvideo, oh em gee, because he's always doing it and it's ~so cute~ and fits in with my theory that he is the most feminine member. [balances tin hat precariously on head]
ahahaha, i am dying at your jun hate - after i said i loved jun for the very thing you dislike him for.
i wish it were sho hate instead. uh, his skeevey guido persona is actually the best thing ever, ok? DEFRIENDS.... refriends, in the very next cap you mention the amazing maou hair. even sato loved it! he claims to not like his hair long, but when watching clips of the concert on ... HnA? i forget now, but he said ah, my hair was so long, wasn't it? wow, look at me. and gazed at himself lovingly. and i lul'ed and lit cadles/ incense for my ohno shrine.
... you think i'm kidding. i'm like helga in hey arnold. i mean, that's my aspiration.
& you're testing my nerve with that ready to fly joke.
FRUMP? ... as in frumpy... or some other thing? [checks urbandictionary]. O M G you do mean frumpy! SERIOUSLY THAT'S THE LAST STRAW. [blocks, reports a bot.]
nino's stabby shirt! i didn't notice that when i watched the dvd ... oh my god, that makes me so happy.
:D okay, bedtime. thank you for the amazing entertainment, lovely. ♥
Re: my response: tl;dr ... like a sakurap
Date: 2009-04-05 18:40 (UTC)Okayokay, you need to explain to me your Sho hate. I demand answers. :O
So much Ohmiya. :D They aren't as blatant as they used to be, but that's because they keep all of the good lovin' for the sack.
Sometimes Oh-chan is the frumpiest frump ever, but I mean that in the best way possible. It means he's extra-cuddly. ♥
Was looking over some screenshots for the next installment (whenever I get around to it), and seriously, the Ninospam will astound you. Though I suppose that at this point you wouldn't be surprised by it.
Hope your headache's gone now. ♥
sho hateful! harhar.
Date: 2009-04-05 22:02 (UTC)hm, why do i have a distaste for sho?
well, at this point, a lot of it is just habit - you know a thing you do because, you, personally, think it's appropriate. (or hilarious. like your mom jokes.)
but, some of it comes from the fact that i find him to be a rather unpleasant person (persona?) at times. i think he's cocky (as someone pointed out, he comes from a wealthy family, he is well-educated, he's famous and admired: wouldn't you be a douche as well?), which doesn't bother me in and of itself (i happen to like know-it-alls), but i find a meanness in it that bothers me. he was rather infamously volatile in his junior/ early-arashi days (the umbrella incident, the numerous accounts of verbal/ near-physical attacks on fans and staff). and his extra-exaggerated homophobia (well, his masculine shtick et al) irritates me sometimes.
i cannot stand it when i think a celebrity doesn't respect their fans. it's strange, but it is seriously my only pet peeve (well, that and leaving the lights on when not in use). i know he's mellowed and matured a lot with age, as most people do, but i guess i carry grudges. although, like i said, i mostly just say things to say them. in fact, i love his victim persona more and more lately (trufax: i've picked up a sho-phrase and i use it liberally i-r-l: alright, i'll leave. i shouldn't have come.) :D
because i hate him.
(wow, nino answers sure do save a lot of time! also, i would like to apologize for striking through my entire comment in the name of "comedy" - i use that term so loosely. please copypasta it into word if you wish to read it. [slinks off lamely])
Re: sho hateful! harhar.
Date: 2009-04-06 03:58 (UTC)Also, yay for Nino answers. I know this is the standard opinion, but he's so so sharp and quick-witted... it's wonderful. ♥_♥
