Tonight's Halley movie: Twilight. Never have I laughed so hard at a dramatic movie in my life. My final thoughts were, "If the acting weren't so bad, and the dialogue weren't so awful, and maybe if the plot weren't so ridiculous, it would have been kind of good."

I mean, I dunno. I had a ton of fun watching it, and I can't say that I wasn't a little intrigued by the story, but maybe not in the right way. No offense if you like it... it just takes itself way too seriously for me, like it's full of eye-opening, life-changing, epiphanal moments. Like it's the first story that's ever said anything feminist to teenagers (while at the same time letting the main character throw herself at a creepy stalker). Like it's more than just a vampire movie meant for hormonal, Mary Sue-ing high school students (which, I'll admit, can be fun to watch, so long as the movies know and admit that that's what they are). And maybe you like it because it's a light, easy movie, but because it doesn't have that light, easy attitude, it's hard for me to enjoy it.

Instead of saying more, I think I'll just leave you with my favorite quotes.

(Bella voiceover) I planned to confront him and demand to know what his problem was.

Bella: "Why don't you ask him? Take control. You're a strong, independent woman."
Alice: "I am?"
Bella: "Yeah."

Bella, completely deadpan: "Your hand is so cold."

Edward: "Beautiful? This is the skin of a killer, Bella." (Halley's translation: "'I'm SO TORTURED!'")

Bella: "This is unreal. This kind of stuff doesn't exist."
Edward: "It does in my world."

I saw someone on the train reading one of them entertainment magazines and the cover was saying something about a sequel. .x_x

And no, I have not watched this movie, nor do I plan to.

yeah.. New Moon.
4 books.

The first 2 books suck. The last 2 are awesome! So I hope they bring that to the movies.

Are they planning to do all four books as separate movies, do you know? Or is it Lemony Snicket-style, with parts of books put into different movies?

I think their planning on doing it harry-potter style doing all 4 books as separate movies. Since you have Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn but each book picks up where the last book left off.

As for the movies/books, I think its geared mostly towards tweens and high schoolers which is why it has a large appeal towards that fan-base.

I might watch the sequel(s) just to see how it ends. Also, I don't like starting things without finishing them, even if it means wasting 2+ hours of my life.

Though as long as I borrow them from the library, it won't be a waste of money, so that's okay. XD

I don't know, boss...

I'm getting excited just looking at his styled-to-a-Japanese-degree hair. We may have to watch this masterpiece together. <3

I think this is one of those "do it for the story" kinds of things.

Wait -- the books have a feminist message? I must have missed it because I was so busy noticing the anything-for-love and play-with-people's affections storylines...

I'm pretty sure Bella's supposed to be one of those "strong heroine" types. I don't quite know how, though. Far cry from Elizabeth Bennet, to say the least.

I read the books, so I wanted to see how they handled the movie. It was so unintentionally hilarious. My friend Emily and I saw it at a cheapie theatre and you could feel the pre-pubESSENCE upon entering the room. It was a sea of tweens. Seriously, potential field day for a chomo. I hope they discontinue making Twilight movies. The books get worse and worse as the story goes on. The last one was just... a doozy? Yeah, that's what I'll call it. >_>;

Yeah, I was so happy to be watching it in the privacy of my own room. Had I been in the sea of tweens, I wouldn't have been able to laugh at all the awfulness. XD

That didn't stop me. XD
There's nothing like getting dirty looks from a pack of 12 year old mall-goths because you're chortling at Edward aka Sparkles Magee aka Mr.I-was-involved-in-a-freak-accident-down-at-the-old-glitter-factory. It was somewhat invigorating.
