It's been almost a month since I've had a real "life" post (besides the blurb a week ago), but it's basically been more of the same, so not much to report anyway. We're on the fourth week of school, and it's been pretty usual.
Honor Council had its retreat last weekend, and it was good, clean fun. We spent the night at Gabe's parents' ridiculous house, which was perfect for our Mandatory Funtime activity, sardines. Also, we talked about the Honor Code.
I didn't mention it, but I'm taking intro fencing to go toward completing my PE requirement (which, admittedly, I was supposed to have finished two years ago). Yesterday we picked up swords after two weeks of practicing footwork. I'll be learning saber -- that's the slashing, cutting one, not the poking one.
Piano's going well -- I think I'm progressing relatively quickly. I still can't read bass clef without transposing from treble clef, but I can pretend pretty well. Ultimately, my goal is to be able to play and croon (lovingly, caressingly) a certain song by the time Cami visits in November, but we'll see how that goes.
And this week should be fun, by which I mean awful.
Today
- Finish reading thesis book. No, seriously, finish it. And finalize thesis game plan/bibliography before meeting tomorrow.
- Write rough draft for Japanese presentation (which, for various personal reasons, I couldn't muster up the energy to write last week), write up vocab/questions, plan PowerPoint slide show.
- Honor Council abstract discussion I.
Wednesday
- Thesis meeting, grad school talk. Finalize abstract/bibliography to be turned in on Thursday.
- Honor Council abstract discussion II.
- Memorize monologue for Chinese individual conference.
Thursday
- Meet with Jason for grad school recommendation.
- Meet with Dean Watter for grad school recommendation.
- Meet with Professor Kight for Flash video adventures.
- Chinese individual conference makeup (Professor was sick last week). Ahaha, Individual Conference Make Up! *twirls around and transforms into someone who doesn't actually suck at Chinese*
- Practice for Japanese presentation, ugh.
Friday
- Japanese presentation, ugh.
- This week's Chinese individual conference. Remember to switch times with Ma Lin so that you can do a...
- Practice run of getting into Philly prior to taking the GRE (test date: October 9th... Why is this happening to me?).
Every day
- Study vocab for GRE.
- Relearn high school math for GRE.
- Study vocab/kanji/grammar for JLPT.
- Find/contact people for grad school.
- Practice piano, do listening exercises.
- Practice violin.
- Cry into my pillow at night. That is, of course, if I get the chance to sleep that night.

Date: 2009-09-22 15:37 (UTC)Are you staying at Haverford for Grad School or perhaps going somewhere more sensible like, I dunno, a college in Charlotte NC?

Date: 2009-09-23 15:42 (UTC)Haverford is undergrad-only, so I'm definitely not staying here for grad school. I've been worming around with the UC system, but I have yet to do any real applications or anything.
You should... come to sunny California with me. y/y?
