Dec. 7th, 2009 23:12(This involves a sizable amount of A*ashi talk, unfortunately, but it's not specifically about them, really. Almost. Kind of.)
I did it, guys. I changed my default icon. I never thought this day would come.
, I'll miss you. (Pretty KenKen, plus Fastball lyrics for extra awesome... by far one of my favorite icons I've ever made.) You've been my default icon for over 3.5 years. I'll always cherish the time we've spent together. But things change, and people (users and their icons) go their separate ways. You'll still be here, a part of me, but just not my default icon anymore.
... so what next?
The initial decision was between:

because I adore Neen when he's laughing, no holds barred, a slave to the moment and he doesn't want to be free

Maou hair and Ohmiya, need I say more? (Tangentially, how cute was it that in Arashi's nengajou in Wink Up Ohno and Nino shared the "a" in "akemashite omedetou"? It's for real, yo, IT'S FOR REAL.)

because seriously, look how pretty he is
But none of them really screamed "default" to me. Neen's a little too simple and monochrome (and while KenKen was monochrome, he also had a scrambled background and meaningful lyrics, so it worked OKAY), and I don't want my default icon to be a pairing, and Ohno's not even my favorite so what right does he have to be my default when Neen's never been before? Such were the thoughts swirling through my head, and I spent some time weighing my options (instead of, you know, doing my homework).
For a while I was considering making a new icon to use as my default, since Neen's been so precious in the magazines lately, but sooner or later (sooner than later) I realized that I wanted something real, timeless, and not just "the Neenface of the month"; I wanted something like laughter, or Ohmiya, or a hot guy on a train.
The default icon is what defines you, you know. It's the first thing people will identify you with. When people see my default icon on my profile page (because so many people visit, I know), what do I want them to think of me? "Supporter of happy Neen but hey isn't he a little too green here"? "Another crazy Ohmiya fangirl oh hey look they're kind of cute together"? "Ohdeargodplease someone TAKE HIM NOW RIGHT THERE ON THE TRAIN"?
But in the end it was never really a question. It's gotta be Neen. ♥

Your default icon says this about you: "Hey yo I'm wearin' my stunna shades and wavin' a flag now y'all".
I. It's not Arashi, so I don't really know. (*sings* one trick pony~)

Date: 2009-12-08 04:51 (UTC)it's maki nomiya-sama (yes)! pizzicato five? D: one of their early single covers. it purposefully recalls communist propaganda posters from 1960s china (maki is styled as mao).
D: COME ON, YOU HISTORY (kinda) MAJOR! it says i am fucking cool. although i am tempted to change my precious P5 default to this one (see: the icon i am using). it's nearly as cool, since aiko okamura, a singer in the big band genre, is ~*~so indie~*~.
edit: WITH OKUAIKO GOODNESS
honestly, i love everything about her. coloratura soprano, yes please.
