changed my LJ layout again...
Aug. 1st, 2004 10:40The colors are so cute! And look, the purple matches Midou Ban-sama's sunglasses. :D
In other news, I watched The Adolescence of Utena the other day.
Uwaa, crazy stuff. I think the only thing I liked in the movie better than the TV series was the character design (especially outfits). They were all cute and color-coded and stuff. ^^ Everything else wasn't necessarily worse than their counterparts in the TV series (with the exception of the plot; I do like the TV series' plot better), it's just that they weren't any better. That's saying a lot, I guess, since I already think so highly of many of the elements in Utena.
Great movie. I loved the scene where Utena and Anthy were dancing on the platform to Toki ni Ai wa, a song I'd heard and fallen in love with long before I ever saw Utena. Never pegged myself to be a yuri fangirl, what with all this crazy Gravi and Kyou Kara Maou! (it was licensed... ;_; AonE'll still sub it, though!) and implied Roy x Ed and Ban x Ginji stuff going on, but I do think that Utena and Anthy are a really nice couple. Utena was a bit "out of character" (if labeling her as such is possible in this situation), since she was a bit mean and violent towards Anthy (as well as a bit floaty and wishy-washy when it came to matters of the Touga persuasion)... didn't like that too much.
As I mentioned, though, the character designs were gorgeous. During the scene near the beginning when Juri takes off her fencing mask and her hair is like "voosh", I was like, "Voosh!" Yeah, I actually said it while watching. Oh, and the cool little Utena-in-a-hat thing (though I don't like her long hair in the movie - it seems a little bumpy around the parts where it extends from her short hair)? I don't care if she's a girl... that was sexy. O_o
Good stuff, altogether, though a bit weird at times. The whole Akio-stabs-Anthy-and-falls-out-the-window thing... ~_~ The parts with E-ko and F-ko were cute, though. I've always loved them. ^^ Cosplaying one of them would be fun... get grey everything, tie your hair up in one of those cute little hairdos (though I don't think it's possible), paint your face grey... and of course, see how many people can recognize you. :D
Funniest thing was that Diki (my brother, for those of you who don't know; well, that's not his real name, but that's just what most people call him), who'd hopped in and watched the rest of the movie with me post-Akio telling Anthy to go back to him while being pressed in by walls on both sides, had said that it was weird only after Anthy and Utena kissed. I mean, as if the entire two naked girls riding on some type of high-speed go kart thing weren't weird enough.
I told him he missed the cool part where Utena turns into a car. >.<
I had work yesterday. Good stuff. ~_~ I got to work my tail off for 7 hours at $7.50/hr while Diki got to substitute in a quartet and get an easy $75 from playing maybe an hour's worth of music for a wedding. Right after I was finished with work, of course, I had to change into mah black-n-blacks and Diki and I had to play for a reception. That totals in my brother (and the other two people in my quartet)'s receiving $150 cash that day, and my receiving $75 + $52.50 in the bank for much tougher labor (ironic thing is that the quartet for the first gig was my quartet minus me plus Alan. Punk). The second gig (my first, but the second of the day) was at the downtown Marriott (Meryl was there!!!! She looked so pretty in that ensemble of hers while I got to wear customary gig clothes...), so we got to eat dinner there afterwards. We had complimentary tickets ($25 vouchers) to pay for our meals, but I left a $5 tip (somewhat appropriate; the total of our meals was a bit over $90), so now I only have $70 left.
*hears shrill "Oh, Nezzzzzzzzz!" from the distance*
Yes, I'll owe you an additional $10. ~_~ You're going to use that money to buy me souvenirs anyway. XD
Uhh, I think that's all I had to say. I wish I could have gone to Otakon (which is, presumably, where Adam is right now)... shall never forgive Fiore for having been able to go but still skipping the L'Arc concert. -_-
