BUT HEY. Housing in LA, in spitting distance from campus. And I can kind of afford it, even though this will be the first time since I shared a bunk bed with my brother (back in the 90s!) that I've had a roommate. It should be fun, though, right? Right? I'm just so easy to get along with.

Also, I was chatting with a friend of mine about finding some kind of supplementary income, and he said that he could see me being a bartender at a gay bar... and I think I agree. I don't know where/how I'd get a license for it, but it would be fun. I really want to look into it now.

...or just tell me how to say that. the "gimmie" is necessary.

(also apparently there's a jet interview team out there that asks, as one of their "weeding out" questions, if the interviewee is cool with drinking beer and going to karaoke every night. at least they're honest.)

Ahaha, one of my favorite memories was going to an office drinking party at the city hall where Isaac works and being fed so much beer and wine in quick succession. And then throwing up in the sink, and then going back for more.

Another one of my favorites is meeting his boss and his boss's friends at a karaoke place (which, conveniently, was owned by one of said boss's friends) to sing and drink and be merry with a bunch of middle-aged office workers. They liked that I knew Arashi, so they let me sing a couple of their songs; they made Isaac sing enka.

OMG Japanese people are so good at singing. I swear this is probably one of those ignorant cultural things people say, but I've never met a Japanese person who can't sing.

You'll come to love it, I promise. Or you can stealthily find friends who don't like it and hang out with them.
