ltgmarsYes, updates went down the drain. X.x;; The two houses I stayed at that had internet-connected computers (my dad's high school friend's house and my aunt's house) had things more interesting than typing. The former had Animax (24 hours of non-stop anime! I watched Chobits (so dirty, yet so funny at the same time), Great Teacher Onizuka (heh... heh heh...), Ultra Maniac (love that series!), Urusei Yatsura (they called it "Lamu: The Invader Girl"... pronounced it "Lamb-OOH"... I almost attacked the TV for that one), and the opening theme for Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (my brother doesn't like the show, so he let me listen to the kick-tush opening theme once (it's all CG animation, too, which really didn't surprise me))) and aXn (it wasn't exclusively anime, but we did catch Galaxy Angel, [Groove Adventure] Rave, and Sakura Taisen on it). ^^ Such happiness.
Animax only had Indonesian subtitles, which allowed me to come to the startling realization that I find it easier to understand Japanese dialogue than to understand Indonesian subtitles... and I'm audially fluent in Indonesian, too. aXn had English subtitles (that were somewhat poorly timed, but appreciated), so it was fun catching a bunch of random episodes of Galaxy Angel and one of the last episodes of Rave (something about Rave changing into a different sword when Haru tries to save Elie...?).
Since Animax had Indonesian subtitles, my brother had my mommy read some subtitles outloud for us (easier than trying to decipher what the subtitles say... Indonesian is a very weird language where you have your usual vowel sounds and stuff, but pronunciation is all weird in dialogue, and since we're not used to reading the thing, it was difficult for us). One of the episodes she verbally subtitled for us was the first episode of Chobits... yes, the one where Hideki finds Chii's on-off switch. X.x;;;;;; Bad first impression of Chobits, I think. ~_~;;
Oh, and the other house had a computer that we used to watch movies on. LOTR: TTT, LOTR: FOTR, Finding Nemo, Bruce Almighty, and Phone Booth (in that order).
Phone Booth gives me a reason not to use the telephone.
Though I don't have much to say about Indonesia other than "All we did was eat and get told to eat more", I do have a funny anecdote from our short transit period in Korea: we were eating ice cream sundaes before we had to go back to the airport and catch our plane, and after we were finished, my brother stuck the cherry stem into his mouth. I was like, "Oh, trying to tie a knot in the stem to prove you're a good kisser, huh?" He smirked and, within a few minutes, spit out a tied stem. I, not to be outdone by my social outcast of a brother, stuck my own cherry stem into my mouth and sat there widdling on it for about 30 minutes before giving up, yelling "DAMMIT!", and throwing it in the trash (it was a short stem, I tell you). Diki grinned and said, "I guess that means Eric loses out."
Add another story to the archive of things I tell people to explain why I hit my brother so often...
