Mommy came home all pouty today, and my dad said that someone had cut her flowers, which, funnily enough, explained everything. She's very protective of her flowers.

Back in the day, whenever we were out driving somewhere, my mom would tell my dad to stop the car. We'd be in some random sunny-suburban neighborhood, kids playing in the street and elderly people taking nice strolls along the sidewalk, and we'd all wonder what she was up to. That was when she'd stalk out of the car, run up to a random pretty shrub or tree in some poor stranger's yard, dance a bit, tug a bit, sniff a bit, do everything short of peeing on the thing, and snip off some flowers to keep for herself.

She even kept shears in the glove compartment.

And now she has a wonderful garden of her own, and someone's gone and done the same thing. I laughed a little and, very unsympathetically, told her that she got what was coming. She unamusedly smacked me on the butt and told me to get back in the house. When my dad asked what'd happened, she pouted and repeated what I'd said. Daddy replied, "Haha, I didn't have to say it!"

It's a Weeping Peach tree or something. Pretty, ne? And just in case you can't tell, we live in a sunny-suburban neighborhood, kids playing in the street and elderly people taking nice strolls along the sidewalk. The rest of my mother's garden is safe from prying hands, fenced off in the area surrounding the former pool (now a big hole in the ground).

And quickly, help needed from Spanish speakers.

It's kind of stupid, actually. Daddy asks for Spanish labels on my prescription medication because he thinks it's funny (and because I know just enough to be able to take my medicine properly), but that leaves a bunch of random things. Like warning labels. Usually I can read them, though. Like, the ones with the bread on them that say "take with food" in Spanish mean "take with food."

They aren't all that simple, though. And we skipped the chapter on obscure medication labels in Spanish class because the teacher thought it was unnecessary. Oh, how wrong you were, Señora.

I could probably figure it out if I sat down and thought about it for half a minute, but I'm too lazy to do that. And I'm sure it doesn't affect me, but I'm curious, and I want to know for certain that what I'm thinking is correct. So. Someone tell me what "Advertencia: No usar si usted está dando de lactar." means, por favor? Sorry if it ends up being disturbing. "Lactar" makes me uneasy, simply because I'm pretty sure it's a cognate.

Ooo, pretty tree! *is easily distracted by the pretty* I'm definitely like your mom though. There's this tree down the street that's beautiful when it blooms. I always steal a few flowers. ^_^

Aha! Spanish knowledge is finally starting to come in handy! It's definitely a cognate. "Advisory: Don't use if you are breastfeeding." Lactar = lactate. Your pills should be fine unless, of course, you're forgetting to mention something rather important, Nez. ^_~

Sweet(?), that's what I kind of thought. It had a nice, blobbish picture of what might have been some man holding a loaf of French bread, but I just wanted to make sure. XD

And OMG, your icon. Hahahaha. There was one day in Chemistry when Mr. Dolezal totally said "you better recognize" with a complete 'tude (though he didn't mean it -- he was saying something about how you have to be able to recognize the chemical formulas for different types of hydrocarbons or something), and I started laughing so hard... no one else seemed to notice it, though. ><

Hee! Breastfeeding French baker men. Ahh, the mental visual is quite interesting. :D

I can totally picture Dolezal doing something like that and not realizing it. ^_^

[livejournal.com profile] lady_josephine1 got it right. That's exactly what it means.

Woah, that tree sure is pretty O_o

Don't blame me for my iffy Spanish skillz. Five years of studying it is completely negated by a year of not using it at all. =___=

And let me spam you with more pictures. My mom's actually really into gardening, so she has some nice flowery things growing.

This Korean something-or-other (I think she said it might have been a peach tree...?) started blooming a year early. Mommy was really excited. :D

Dunno what this is, and I wish I'd taken the picture before the sun started to set, because it's so pink and pretty, but you can totally see the pit where our pool used to be in the background. XD

I can see why someone would hack at the tree, because I want it :_:. You should hack me some off.

If I cut off a branch and sent it to you, I don't think it'd be as pretty anymore. Sorry. XD

Haha, I was this close to saying that to my mom, but she was semi-upset as it was. I didn't want to explain pwnage to her. XDD

Hahaha ... 'tis a cognate! "Dont' use if you are giving milk (i.e. breastfeeding)". Woohooo! I sure hope you're not ...

"Giving milk" could be taken as passing a cow onto the next generation. So grateful for the parenthetical. :P

And yeah, last I checked, I wasn't giving milk in any sense of the phrase.
