Just got back from the math contest. Fun as hell. Well, for me, anyway. My family tends to love anything math-related (I was so mad when I missed the day of school when we had the AMC - I was pulled up for the 11th grade test, too!), so I thoroughly enjoyed wracking my brains for formulas and pulling answers out of my butt. Not that they were the correct answers, but the process was thoroughly amusing.

My team got second place for the sophomore team competition (it was me, Rob, and Neehar; granted, I did almost no work save for a few geometry problems and the spot-checking we all did on each others' questions; also Rob had this crazy ability to find the correct answers for weird problems out of nowhere, which I'm sure helped), and Rob and Alan (eheee) tied for first for the sophomore individual competition. I ate lunch (which, I'd like to mention, there was a limit on - one hot dog, one hamburger, one cookie, one pop; there were chips but the guy in charge never put a limit on that one) with Tina and Sarah, secluded behind a barrier on the far side of the room. It was fun.

Overall, very exciting. It's a good feeling to stare at problems on a page that you know you know the answers to but end up feeling dumber than usual because you just can't do them.

I'm so going next year.

Mr. Dillon tried to get me to go...usually when he wants me to go to math or quiz bowly things that start at some gawdawful hour I make some excuse..."It's my uh...cousin's birthday"..."Sorry...I'd love to, but that's when my wisdom teeth are gonna go..."...but this time I was just like "Math. Saturday morning. Unhappy Beth. No." and left it at that. V. sorry I missed out on quality bonding with you, though. :-( My cat says hi.
