Rewatched DL1. Oh, how I miss them. ;_;

DL1 is so much fun... and the Ichinen Trio got lots of screentime (ah, I love them)... and OMG, so much original cast awesomeness...

Naoya, you're so cute... Souta, you're so dorky... TakiEiji, you're so super-hawt!no-nonsense!Buchou... Kime, you're so キラキラ... Nagayan, you're so bouncy... Tuti, you're so leadery... Abe, you're so perfectly BAHNING... MoriEiji, iloveyouiloveyouiloveyou...

Mm, maybe I'm kind of mean to be exalting the original cast when the second cast just graduated, but seriously... Ah, I won't bash, because they're all nice kids who've worked really hard. I just prefer the original cast... and all of the rival schools, too. I never warmed up to the second cast (with the exception of Araki and Shirota (Data wa Uso wo Tsukanai is amazingly well-sung and Shirota's just so memorably weird, even though he completely destroys Buchou's image... then again, I'm obligated to like him because he was frickin' Tuxedo Kamen in Seramyu))...

But really... DL1 brings me back to the days when I wasn't bored by myu!Seigaku's antics and when I didn't think that the myu boys did the stupidest things or the weirdest dances (or maybe it's just that the things that the original cast did were stupid or weird, but they could somehow pull it off fabulously without being annoying or ridiculous or "WHY THE FUCK DO THEY HAVE MOMO WIGS?!"). Maybe Ueshima-sensei's to blame for the new strangeness... he's been running too long on the treadmill of crack, perhaps, but if that's the case, then why is it Fudomine's still unforgettable and SeiRu's still goofy!cute and Buki's still pseudo-interesting-for-a-school-that-I-never-took-interest-in and Hyoutei's still wickedly hot when Seigaku a la the second cast is... childish and bland?

I'm really coming off as an elitist bitch, aren't I?

Maybe that's what's keeping me from liking the second cast in the first place... I went into Bukimyu with the mentality that no one could beat the original cast, but realistically speaking, I just never enjoyed the second cast, no matter how hard I tried. Even the theoretically cute, comedic, cracky, slashy things they did rarely brought a smile to my face. The chemistry's not there. The energy is lacking. The passion just doesn't come through.

And maybe they took it too seriously at first since they knew that they had big shoes to fill, but once they finally were able to loosen up, they just ended up being asinine. Behind the scenes, they're wonderful... they have a lot of fun, and watching them in the backstages is pretty interesting... but they just fall flat on stage, and for that alone, I can't help but like the original cast better.

Maybe I was expecting too much from them, considering just who they were following (and how much I liked said predecessors)... but I should be allowed to expect a lot from them, shouldn't I?

In other news, I need to finish my Kamakari gift package gift. O_O!!

P.S. I'm practicing my janken. It's kinda lame when you have no one to play against, though. :(

I appreciate your comments on the shows. They were fun to read. :D And considering the fact that I'm still up and I don't work nights, I'd say that I have a lot of free time and nothing interesting to do with my life.

MoriEiji was a bit out of character (and no, he couldn't sing... still can't), but in my eyes, he made the role his own. He projected his rather chauvinistic personality onto a 13-year-old character, and it was highly effective (for me, at least... then again, I think he's highly attractive, and hormones spin just about everything). Simply put, he was a lot of fun to watch. Kaji, though... the biggest reason I didn't like Kaji was, naturally, the silliness factor. "Why is Momo rolling around on the floor?", basically. Especially coming after a more "adult" Momo that I loved to bits and pieces, it made it that much more difficult to like him. He does sing well, though. His lines in Aitsu koso ga Tennis no Oujisama from Hyoumyu are amazingly sung.

I can't disagree with you on Souta. He's absolutely adorable (silly, too, but I enjoyed it immensely because he was so anti-Inui that it just became endearingly Souta!Inui), but he only had a dorky Inui to him. Araki completely owned that role, and I respect him so much for it, because I think Inui would be an incredibly tough character to play.

Aside from those issues and the casting problems with First Match Fudomine, the first cast is perfect for me (especially during Side Fudo). And MoriEiji's the perfect Momo for me, even if he doesn't fit the character. Then again, my bias shoots any credibility completely out the window, so you can ignore that last sentence. ^^;;

And Ichinen Trio, OMG.

On DL3 -- I personally think it was kind of inappropriate just how much Hyoutei there was in DL3... I loved every minute of it, but it felt out of place during Seigaku's graduation myu. And coming from a Hyoutei fangirl, that says a lot. :/ Well, you can see how you like it once you get a chance to watch it. I loved the Hyouteiness, but I imagine you won't appreciate it as much, considering the graduation circumstances.

P.S. Do write more about Hyoumyu when you get the chance. I'm curious. :D
