Rewatched DL1. Oh, how I miss them. ;_;

DL1 is so much fun... and the Ichinen Trio got lots of screentime (ah, I love them)... and OMG, so much original cast awesomeness...

Naoya, you're so cute... Souta, you're so dorky... TakiEiji, you're so super-hawt!no-nonsense!Buchou... Kime, you're so キラキラ... Nagayan, you're so bouncy... Tuti, you're so leadery... Abe, you're so perfectly BAHNING... MoriEiji, iloveyouiloveyouiloveyou...

Mm, maybe I'm kind of mean to be exalting the original cast when the second cast just graduated, but seriously... Ah, I won't bash, because they're all nice kids who've worked really hard. I just prefer the original cast... and all of the rival schools, too. I never warmed up to the second cast (with the exception of Araki and Shirota (Data wa Uso wo Tsukanai is amazingly well-sung and Shirota's just so memorably weird, even though he completely destroys Buchou's image... then again, I'm obligated to like him because he was frickin' Tuxedo Kamen in Seramyu))...

But really... DL1 brings me back to the days when I wasn't bored by myu!Seigaku's antics and when I didn't think that the myu boys did the stupidest things or the weirdest dances (or maybe it's just that the things that the original cast did were stupid or weird, but they could somehow pull it off fabulously without being annoying or ridiculous or "WHY THE FUCK DO THEY HAVE MOMO WIGS?!"). Maybe Ueshima-sensei's to blame for the new strangeness... he's been running too long on the treadmill of crack, perhaps, but if that's the case, then why is it Fudomine's still unforgettable and SeiRu's still goofy!cute and Buki's still pseudo-interesting-for-a-school-that-I-never-took-interest-in and Hyoutei's still wickedly hot when Seigaku a la the second cast is... childish and bland?

I'm really coming off as an elitist bitch, aren't I?

Maybe that's what's keeping me from liking the second cast in the first place... I went into Bukimyu with the mentality that no one could beat the original cast, but realistically speaking, I just never enjoyed the second cast, no matter how hard I tried. Even the theoretically cute, comedic, cracky, slashy things they did rarely brought a smile to my face. The chemistry's not there. The energy is lacking. The passion just doesn't come through.

And maybe they took it too seriously at first since they knew that they had big shoes to fill, but once they finally were able to loosen up, they just ended up being asinine. Behind the scenes, they're wonderful... they have a lot of fun, and watching them in the backstages is pretty interesting... but they just fall flat on stage, and for that alone, I can't help but like the original cast better.

Maybe I was expecting too much from them, considering just who they were following (and how much I liked said predecessors)... but I should be allowed to expect a lot from them, shouldn't I?

In other news, I need to finish my Kamakari gift package gift. O_O!!

P.S. I'm practicing my janken. It's kinda lame when you have no one to play against, though. :(

I think I'd prefer the flick to the forehead... five fingers on your face as opposed to two on your wrist... Then again, he holds your fist while he does the wrist penalty, ne?

If I ever met him, I'm pretty sure I'd start squealing and never stop. And then Date would pop up and be all, "Stop scaring Kenta-kun! *senpai MOLEST!!*"

Bleh, RPS... I need to stop thinking about janken...... ><

The janken scene is my single favorite backstage scene ever... I loved it. I watched it while I was waiting for Nico to come back from helping a customer, and the conversation basically went like this:

Nico: customer, blah
Nico: brb
Inez: *starts watching backstage*
Inez: Let me know when you get back.
Inez: *gets to janken scene, squees a bit*
Inez: *watches Date pwn Kamakari... of COURSE Date wins!*
Inez: AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Inez: LET ME KNOW WHEN YOU GET BACK!!!!
Nico: Did you get to the janken scene??

And OHGODOHGODOHGOD, the AtoTari killed me. I was screaming so hard during some of it (like when Oshitari is walking toward the front of the stage and Atobe drags him back as the lights dim... yep, I had to pause and wait till I stopped screaming)...

And OshiGaku, too. Meccha meccha kawaii!!! ♥

My brother was in next room over when I was watching it... all the laughing and the screaming and the "ARE YOU SERIOUS?!"ing and the general fangirling must have been so scary to hear. >< Then again, he's always yelling things like "GOD-LIKE SPEED!!!!!!!" and laughing his ass off, so I should get my moments, too, ne?

Both the myu and the backstage were... amazing. I don't know how to describe them. And I even cried during the graduation part, even though I never liked the second cast (hence rewatching DL1 and getting my fill of good Seigaku crack). I think it's just because I'm a sympathetic crier, though (like Kouji!!!). Oh, and Yanagi... I'll miss him. That kid is so cute. Doesn't compare to the general crack of the Hyoutei boys, but the "Daniel" still slays me.

You know my feelings about the second cast, so I agree with you in everything. I usually got together with my friends to watch the myus and laugh crazily and be silly and fall from our chairs and the like (we even broke a bed while squeeing and bouncing crazily while watching DL1 *shame on us T___T*) and I still can remember the disappointment of the DL2. It was unbearable, we kept fast-forwarding it to the parts where St. Rudolph appeared and the like. I hope the new cast makes it better. Even though Aiba is still there. And I loathe him.

Luckily, I still laugh and squee and bounce and stuff when I watch Tenimyu... just not for Seigaku (barring some random scene where, say, Tezuka says something very hardcore!Buchou to Atobe). :/

And I can't blame you for breaking a bed during DL1... is nuts. XD I absolutely adore everything about it. (Ahhhh, I died about a billion times when I first watched it (with you, ne?), and fifty or so showings later, it still makes me fangirl like crazy.)

Aiba will graduate eventually, ne? And he isn't so bad as long as you don't think about how he's not really Fuji-like and you don't compare him to the amazingness that is Kime...

Considering that the Hyoutei cast is most likely the most popular rival school cast they've had, I'm pretty sure they'll be staying around for a while, at least in chunks. They're all in Rokkakumyu, ne? That makes it four straight myus they'll have been in.

I'm writing him a little note (maybe I'll make a card, though it'll definitely just be a bit of writing and doodles), and I'm drawing a picture on foam board to make a keychain out of. It's going to be pathetically amateuristic and sloppy-looking, but I'm sure he'll appreciate the sentiment...

I think you people keep forgetting how much younger the second cast is. That explains a lot of the silliness.

Not to mention what the director tells them to do.

Some of the first cast were nearly 30 years old when they played 12, 13, 14, and 15 year olds.

I like both casts, because they're vastly different.

I personally don't ever see them 'fall flat' on stage, they all improved with every single show, and if you look at Yamabuki Myu and Hyoutei in Winter, you can see a huge difference. Give them a break, half of them are still children.

:x Anyway.

From: [identity profile] ltgmars.livejournal.com
Yeah, they did get better. A lot better -- singing, acting, etc. I won't dispute that. I just... I guess I prefer the non-silliness, and no matter how much better they got, they wouldn't be able to get rid of that because they are kids. It's not their fault, but it's not my preference either.

I'm sick of seeing "stupid humor" all the time. The first cast was genuinely funny to me, a change from what I ordinarily see -- clever dialogue a lot of the time (some of which I understood, much of which I didn't), as well as better acting to go along with it (which, granted, also comes from their greater experience) -- whereas the second cast relied a lot on, well, silliness (the Momo wigs still haunt me). I'm sure Ueshima has a lot to do with it, but I can't help but think that maybe he catered to the cast (which I suppose is what a good director does, but wow...). Their antics are fun to watch sometimes, but they don't strike me as memorable simply because they aren't as clever as I'm used to seeing from Tenimyu.

And I shouldn't bash them for it, because they've grown a lot, and they're improving every day, and I could just as easily take the "if you don't like it, don't watch it" route, so I have no room to complain, but... I've been trying so hard to like them, and, despite technical improvements and whatnot, it just hasn't been working for most of them (as I said, Araki and Shirota are exceptions). Their brand of Tenimyu just doesn't have the spark that I'm looking for.

I realize I'm being a hypocrite here. I'm far from a clever humorist -- I laugh at stupid things all the time -- but I'm not cutting the second cast any slack for trying to be humorous. But the switch was too much for me, and I thought I could get used to it, but I couldn't. So if I end up being a first cast elitist bitch, then that's what I am. I can't pretend to like something that doesn't do anything for me.

It's my fault that I don't like them. They're great kids, really. I sincerely mean that, and I appreciate how hard they've worked, and I think I understand what it's like to leave something that you've worked so hard for and gotten so attached to, so... I should just congratulate them for their hard work and stop complaining, huh?

Date: 2006-06-24 05:08 (UTC)
From: [identity profile] impressioniste.livejournal.com
Nah, there's no 'fault' involved. You like what you like.

I just don't think any comparison between the two will ever be truly fair, because they're like apples and oranges. ^^

Date: 2006-06-24 05:48 (UTC)
From: [identity profile] impressioniste.livejournal.com
Also, you have to remember that the Dream Lives aren't considered serious shows. They were meant to be gag and fanservicey, and so they were.

There's also a big difference between being 16 and being 26.

And they also have a director who makes most of the decisions, so you can't blame the cast completely for it.

I still think Moriyama Eiji can't sing for a whit, and was way more perverted than Momo would ever be -- and that Kimeru made a horrible Ryoma, but I like both casts pretty equally.

My biggest complaint with cast2 was the Golden Pair, and they improved upon their performances so much that I really couldn't complain by the end, whereas I was clutching my ears when I started.

If you look at the whole run, all the shows, it goes something like this:

Myu 1 - A bunch of twentysomethings playing 12-15 year olds. It was an experiment. Minimal sets, lighting, props. The stage was *bare* most of the time. Not much for special effects or lighting. Kimeru is easily the best singer. People constantly bitch about Ichitaro vs Nagayan. Yanagi's only show before his accident. Abe as Taka is exceptional, Moriyama Eiji can't sing for beans, but he's brash and Momo-ish enough. Takigawa Eiji isn't the best Tezuka, vocally -- but he's got a stage presence. Sota doesn't get much screentime as Inui. Naoya is imposing as Kaidoh, and can sing in that really low key, which is a plus on him. The plot is boring, there are no rivals, only Sasabe and Arai. The songs are catchy, but not as catchy as some of the later ones.

First Match Fudomine is our first glimpse at a rival team, but it's fucked up because of Yanagi's accident. Kimeru steps in to play Echizen, Nagayama steps up to bat as Fuji, and Ichitaro returns for Eiji.

Kimeru sucks as Echizen, and Nagayama sucks as Fuji, but they don't have much choice. Kimeru can have all the talent vocally in the world, but it doesn't make up for him making a crappy Echizen 'character'. His singing is spot on, but he just sucks as Echizen. I know some people think he's the best, this is just my personal opinion. And I'm working off four years as a theater major. ^^ Nagayama isn't a bad actor, or a bad singer -- quite the opposite. But he just faded into the background as Fuji. Blame that most likely on the stress they all had and the short notice of changes. Plus he isn't Kimeru. His voice was not suited for that role, and it showed. The performance overall for 1stFudo sucked, but it's understandable in light of the issues.

Tachibana is probably more suited than YOH who shows up in the other Fudo-shows, but he doesn't come back. He's also awfully old-looking. Same for Kamio not returning, and I was never really impressed with Kamio's song. Nor Shinji's. They had fairly unmemorable rival team songs, except for the one group song. Shinji is great, and I started to warm up to Ishida here. Other than that, the whole show is pretty lackluster.

Cue DL1. Say hello to Endo, who is probably scared to death, and who can't sing for crap. His dancing is fine, but we're now on our third Ryoma. I never much liked Endo until a show or two later. He just seemed so nervous and out of place in DL1. Tuti and Nagayan of course had their moments as the GP, and the fangirls continue to bash Ishitaro and gleefully squeal that he's gone as Eiji. I thought he was good, personally. *shrug* Takigawa Eiji's singing as Tezuka has improved a bit, Naoya is still great, and Sota somehow creates an Inui that is nothing but silly and goofy. Which is very much different from the manga/show. Sota's so tiny, and Inui's so huge and imposing. He's got the nerd/dork bit down, but if you want to complain about silliness, Sota's Inui is a major offender there. Taka is cute and silly, but he's supposed to be, and Moriyama Eiji just doesn't impress me here. Overall, the cast has more chemistry, save for Endo, and they're more comfortable. It's also fanservice, and that's more than blatant.

On to More than Limit. Boring at first, and then grew on me. Personally, St. Rudolph is the best part of the show. We have a new Taka and a new Tezuka, but only for this show. I happen to really enjoy Kengo's performance as Tezuka, and Kawamura isn't bad, either. I miss Abe, but things could be worse. Mizuki and Yuuta really make the show, along with Yanagisawa, whose popularity freaking SHOT THROUGH THE ROOF after this show. Not to mention Bakazawa and Kaneda. Not so many of my favorite songs come from this show, although there are one or two that are definitely nice. Kimeru is back in perfect form as Fuji, and Nagayama has probably his best showing as Eiji here. Dream Maker is one of my favorite songs of all the shows. Aoku Moeru Honoo is a good opener. Bunseki, the closest Inui gets to a song here, isn't that great. It's hardly even a song, which disappointed me. Endo's doing a little better, but his voice is still... awful. KENN blows everyone away as Yuuta.

Side Fudo is one of my favorite shows. It's the pinnacle of teamwork for the old cast, and they bring back Yanagi, which makes it even more emotional than just the graduation. Endo does the dance numbers, Yanagi sings, and they share Ryoma's role. Yanagi's voice is terrible, but he does his best, and I personally think that counts for a lot. This is the Fudo-show that 'should' have been originally, although Fudomine has seen some cast changes. The overall quality is great, the songs are well done, and everyone is really in top-form, for the most part.

And then the new cast comes in for Side Yamabuki and everyone has a fit. They suck, they're terrible, they don't fit the part, they're too young, et cetera, et cetera. Even before they've seen/heard the new cast, people were bitching about it, which is really dumb. If you don't like something after you've tried it, that's cool -- but they weren't the first cast and people used that as reason for having a fit. Anyway.

Their performance and teamwork... weren't very good, because they were all new. Kaji as Momoshiro and Shirota as Tezuka immediately caught my attention. I have heard people complain about Kaji's Momoshiro, but I find it truer to canon than Moriyama ever was, not to mention he can sing ten times better. He may be immature and not the best actor, but he makes up for it in other areas. They're young, and it shows, though. Yanagi steps back again for Endo, who hasn't really improved in the voice department. Blame puberty, perhaps. Or nervousness. Kaidoh and Inui really never get their chance to stand out yet, and neither does Kawamura. We're left with stingy initial impressions. Shirota blows everyone away, Kaji is a goof, and Aiba is... well. He's alright -- but he's no Kimeru. He looks the part of Fuji, but his voice is something to be desired. Araki is much more imposing than Sota ever was, which is a good thing in my book, as much as I adore Sota.

Akutsu is perfect, as is Sengoku, and Taichi. I'm not a big Yamabuki fan, and the rest of Yamabuki is a bit left by the wayside. Overall it's an adequate show, although nothing spectacular from Seigaku. Oishi and Eiji are *painful*, especially filling the shoes of people like Tuti and Nagayan.

In comes DL2, in which the cast gets repeatedly fucked over, and Endo graduates. Endo finally sounds REALLY good, just as he gets ready to leave. Maybe he's relieved, maybe he worked really hard, maybe puberty finally set in. But he's *good*. The best he's ever been. Seigaku gets screwed over by being forced to sing older songs that they really should never have touched. The songs were NOT made for their vocal ranges, and the Seigaku Regulars song is all messed up in terms of who is singing what, and none of it makes sense. The Momo-wigs were silly, but it's *fanservice*. Inui and his 'sparkle song' talk was just as silly, and so was the whole bit about him showing pictures of everyone. The cast is a bit more comfortable, although it's sad to see Endo go just as I started to appreciate him. There's lots of interaction with the rivals, and so Seigaku probably gets overshadowed, between the rivals and having to sing songs they really can't sing.

The Hyoutei Musicals are where the 2nd cast stands out for me, but not everyone agrees. Araki is a perfect Inui, and the polar opposite of the silly, nerdy Sota. Shirota is flawless as Tezuka. Aiba can still use some work. Finally Kujirai gets a chance to show off his voice, which is amazing. He's been forced to sing not in his range up till now, which effectively kept him from showcasing his real talent. I think Kaji still does well, although there's not really a marked change between Kaji's first performance in Buki and his Hyoutei ones. Yanagi is back, and his voice is still a little hurty, but it's leaps and bounds above what it was in Side Fudo. Again, the rivals sort of take the stage, because Hyoutei is AMAZINGLY FREAKING CAST. You really believe they *ARE* Hyoutei up there, and for all intents and purposes, they are. Oishi and Eiji have even improved a tiny bit by Hyouteimyu, and a *lot* by Winter Hyouteimyu. Even I was impressed, and I abhorred them.

This show is a lot more serious than the past ones, save for the interludes where there's some silly antics.

I haven't seen DL3, but I have the OST, and I was really disappointed that Hyoutei basically seems to have stolen the show, when it's Seigaku's graduation. But I'll have to hold off on that until I see it.

I was going to write more on the Hyoutei Myu, but I have work to do. :X

Yes, I have too much fucking free time to be writing all this.

I appreciate your comments on the shows. They were fun to read. :D And considering the fact that I'm still up and I don't work nights, I'd say that I have a lot of free time and nothing interesting to do with my life.

MoriEiji was a bit out of character (and no, he couldn't sing... still can't), but in my eyes, he made the role his own. He projected his rather chauvinistic personality onto a 13-year-old character, and it was highly effective (for me, at least... then again, I think he's highly attractive, and hormones spin just about everything). Simply put, he was a lot of fun to watch. Kaji, though... the biggest reason I didn't like Kaji was, naturally, the silliness factor. "Why is Momo rolling around on the floor?", basically. Especially coming after a more "adult" Momo that I loved to bits and pieces, it made it that much more difficult to like him. He does sing well, though. His lines in Aitsu koso ga Tennis no Oujisama from Hyoumyu are amazingly sung.

I can't disagree with you on Souta. He's absolutely adorable (silly, too, but I enjoyed it immensely because he was so anti-Inui that it just became endearingly Souta!Inui), but he only had a dorky Inui to him. Araki completely owned that role, and I respect him so much for it, because I think Inui would be an incredibly tough character to play.

Aside from those issues and the casting problems with First Match Fudomine, the first cast is perfect for me (especially during Side Fudo). And MoriEiji's the perfect Momo for me, even if he doesn't fit the character. Then again, my bias shoots any credibility completely out the window, so you can ignore that last sentence. ^^;;

And Ichinen Trio, OMG.

On DL3 -- I personally think it was kind of inappropriate just how much Hyoutei there was in DL3... I loved every minute of it, but it felt out of place during Seigaku's graduation myu. And coming from a Hyoutei fangirl, that says a lot. :/ Well, you can see how you like it once you get a chance to watch it. I loved the Hyouteiness, but I imagine you won't appreciate it as much, considering the graduation circumstances.

P.S. Do write more about Hyoumyu when you get the chance. I'm curious. :D

I realise I'm a couple of weeks late in replying to this comment, but I was randomly browsing your journal (looking for KenKen scans, actually >:D) and I read this.

I feel exactly the same way about the first cast. shdfjsdgs I thought I was the only one! Second gen just doesn't cut it for me (with the exception of Shirota, because he's cute, Adachi = terrible, terrible Kikumaru but such a woobie, and Aiba, cause he's... just hot XD), although I DO love Hyoutei. I guess they count as first gen though XDD

But yeah, now I've squeed, could I possibly add you? ^_^

Hehe, sometimes I feel terrible for how I feel about the second cast, but I can't help it. First cast love~ ><

And feel free to add! :D Also, scans are hidden away somewhere, if you're willing to dig for them... look through my tags (http://ltgmars.livejournal.com/tag/) and see if you can find them. XD

Commenting because I can! :D

Skipping DL2 (because that just sucked), the difference between DL1 and DL3 was the ability to make fun of yourself. The taunting was very funny in DL3, for example I felt incredibly sorry for Suzuki the poor boy really can't sing, although I heart him to pieces. Unfortunately, during the taunting, the characters took it more to heart. That's probably accurate to the situation, since it's their rivals taunting them, but I have a feeling that the 2nd!cast boys wouldn't work so well with making fun of themselves

But in DL1... they have the ability to completely trash themselves. They continuously make fun of their singing and dancing, the whole bit with MoriEiji and the Shinjicest, the whole bit with Shinji and "Ryoma's image change" through Kimeru, and poor Abe and Souta about their cold applause. It was just a different sort of vibe, coming from 1st!cast. And oh my god, don't get me started on the GP love. Nagayan and Tuti were slash in a can. Omgsrsly. There was a lot of chemistry all-around, but I guess that could be contributed to the smaller cast overall and the friendliness of the cast all-around.

But, DL3... first off, it was completely strewn with Hyotei. As Adachi and Zukki pathetically tried to bring in the GP love during Good Combination, the fangirls were squealing over the Silver Pair luff. Since Hyotei was brilliantly casted, the SP love was so THERE. The GP just kind of... died. There was also no TezFuji because Shirota was too busy making kissy faces at Kazuki (not that I'm complaining! XD), and no MomoRyo because Yanagi didn't really do much in the way of interaction with the team (which is probably highly in-character anyways)and Momo was off being Golden Trio'd. So, yes, there was too much Hyotei to really dive into the different nuances of Seigaku. DL1 only had Shinji, so they had plenty of time to interact amongst themselves. However, the crowd energy was SPECTACULAR (I think the standing helped, more like a real concert) and it improved everyone's performance.

Breaking it down, I really liked Shirota, because he could sing and was the hugest dork ever, although he was pretty good at Buchou-ing when he had to.
Araki and Kujirai were adorable, could sing, and somewhat slashy. (Backstage Summerhyoutei, during the curtain call, their bandana and glasses thing, OMG IT WAS ADORABLE.)
Aiba was good to look at, and not a REALLY BAD Fuji, but Kimeru left incredibly big shoes to fill... I'm looking forward to a 3rd!Cast Fuji after Rokkakumyu is done, though.
Adachi was not good starting out, but he's cute to look at, and much more fun backstage. But, if you look hard during DL3, he had some cute Eiji moments. (Like Moeruze Burning for example, jumping up and down instead of tip-toeing). My theory is that he's gotten more in character because he's doing the live-action movie, which of course calls for a huge amount of in-character-ness.
I think Zukki was a good Oishi stand-alone, but as I said earlier, the GP wasn't really there. Probably not his fault though, blame the writers? And oh my god, SUCH a dork backstage. Hearts for him.
And of course, Yanagi is Yanagi. Poor thing's voice is still a little whacked out, and his motor skills still aren't the best, but everyone loves him so that makes up for any bad things. Stage presence helps, too.

Ichinen Trio, WHYTF DID YOU GRADUATE? ; o ; My only happy thought during all of this is, during Aitsu blah blah Tennis no Oujisama, Ishibashi/Horio got a mother fcking huge solo. xD It didn't sound the best, but it was sure as hell in character. <3 <3 They haven't announced the new Ichinen Trio, have they? Damn.

The thing is, as illogial said earlier, 2nd!Cast was sort-of-childish (not so much to me, but that's because they're all older than I am ; o ;) because they were a lot younger and less experienced than 1st!Cast. But, in the end, they made it work, no? Perhaps the less-clever humor was a ploy to make the boys really seem like 12-15 year-old's on crack? Who knows.
but, I do know that 3rd!Cast has really varied ages, and I'm excited to see what they pull out of the bag.

I really do think that I didn't give the second cast enough of a chance, since I fell head-over-heels in love with the first cast, but still, even when I tried to know them and like them, most of them didn't leave a lasting [good] impression on me. Even taking my love for the first cast out of the equation (though I imagine it's impossible to do so completely), the second cast didn't do much for me.

It's nothing personal against them, though. They're great kids, and a lot of fun as they are... just not what I enjoy on stage. :/

And DL3 was basically a Hyoutei concert, which kind of made the Hyoutei fangirl in me DOKIDOKI like no other, but which also kind of made the logical part of me go, "This is Seigaku's graduation, isn't it...?" But yeah. Kamakari and Date. Wow. I love them so much. ><

I really didn't want the Ichinen Trio to go. They're fabulous. And Ishibashi sings pretty damn well, in my opinion. Well, compared to the first myu, which got the blood gushing from my ears in gallons. XD

They did announce the new Ichinen Trio, I believe. They're on the official website somewhere. They announced them all at the same time, ne? :D And I'm definitely looking forward to the new cast as well (Seigaku and Rokkaku, who look absolutely fabulous (even though Itsuki's way more attractive than he's supposed to be XD)). Let's see how they do~
From: [identity profile] vanillacat.livejournal.com
Well, it wasn't as hard for me to switch over to the 2nd!Cast because I got into the fandom kind of late - I've only been into tenimyu for a little over a year, I sort of stalked the tenimyu community(s) since maybe nine monthes, and I didn't avidly stalk it until, oh, maybe six months ago?
So most of what I knew about the 1st!Cast was transferred by word of mouth (it's scary when you have IRL friends who know about your fandoms o__O), until of course, I finally got off my lazy bum and found torrents for the earlier myus.

So, I guess I kind of got into both casts at the same time. Which was probably easier on noobies like me, since I haven't had as much exposure to the 1st!Cast, thus cannot fully enjoy their greatness? XD I'll go back and watch them all, though, since you're inspiring. XD

Not to mention, as of late, it's a hell of a lot easier to find scans and the like of the 2nd!cast boys, since half of them are D-BOYS and the other half of them are in lots of other stuff.
All the publicity 2nd!cast has gotten probably doesn't help with my opinion D:
It's kind of like watching a movie for Tom Cruise, and going OMG TOM CRUISE, and ignoring the actual acting and just waiting for Tom Cruise to come around, opposed watching a movie for the sake of watching a movie and Tom Cruise just happens to be in it. (Pardon the American parallel, I couldn't think of anything better.)
So, I guess you've also inspired me to actually critique their performances instead of just happily watching. ^^

Meh, I think Hyoutei made it much better, you know? Since there are Hyoutei fangirls like you us, they said "What the hell? Let's stick 'em in!" and it worked. :D Oh my god, Kamakari and Date are SO married. Seriously. <33 Although I think Date's a little too quiet to truly fufill your ToriShishi OTP. XDD;; Oh well, it's still Silver Pair.

Yeah, I found pictures of the New Ichinen Trio today. :/ They have some mother f'cking big shoes to fill. Horio was really trying hard with his solo, and I give him props for that~ :D I do wish the Ichinen Trio as a whole had gotten some more parts in DL3, considering it was their graduation concert too, and their graduation overshadows all others. >__> Like, why couldn't they do skits/taunting too? I laughed my ass off during their sections of DL1... Hmph.
Horio, yes, did have us all gushing blood, but it was good blood? The blood of love? XDDD;;

Hurrah for Third!Cast! I've got hopes for them. :D Unfortunately, though, did you hear? The 3rd!Kaidoh got sick or something, and isn't going to perform; instead, they dragged back Kujirai... :O I was like OH SH!T THIS IS LIKE YANAGI ALL OVER AGAIN, but I don't think it's that serious, thank god. o__o

(Another tremendously long comment! Gomen, you're fun to talk to. :D)

Heh, actually, I'm more of a newbie than you are. I only got into Tenipuri about 11 months ago, and Tenimyu a few months after that. But I guess the difference is that I watched everything in order, and by the time I watched Bukimyu, my love for the first cast was already well-established. And then DL2 came out, and I thought it was the stupidest thing ever, so that didn't help my opinion of the second cast. ^^;;

And yes, go back and watch the first cast stuff. >< Gosh, it's been too long since I've watched them myself, but I always love going back and watching the earlier myus because they're the ones that made me fall in love with Tenimyu, and they make me all nostalgic and stuff. Mm~, yes.

I think it's easier for us to have access to new cast stuff, too, since it seems that there's been an influx of fans on our end. More fans = more things bought/shared = more fangirling to be had. And it's harder to keep up with the goings-on of the first cast, because they've kind of faded into the background with all of the happy D-Boys stuff flooding the scene, so yeah, I think I know where you're coming from. (An American reference? On my LJ?! Gasp. XD) Heh, critique away, but remember that it's all in the name of good fun. I'm hard on them because, well, I really like the first cast, but that doesn't mean they're bad or anything. They've improved a lot, those kids, even if I don't think they're great. :3

HYOUTEI. OMG. I can't begin to explain how much I love that cast. When I first saw him, I didn't think Katou was a great Atobe, to be honest, since I kind of unintentionally compared him to the smex that is Suwabe Junichi, but he's grown on me. And he's such a dork, OMG. >< But yeah. Hyoutei cast = orgasmic... Hyoutasmic? I dunno. XD And KamaDate, OMG. They make me like RPS. >< Kamakari's definitely the seme in their relationship. Either that or he's loud and stuff because he's in denial of his ukeness. Heh, that boy reminds me way too much of Shishido. XD

But yeah. Seriously. I love the Hyoutei cast. Every single one of them. SO MUCH.

The blood of love? XDD Nice. And seriously, I was kind of hoping that the Ichinen Trio would never have to graduate. They didn't graduate with the first cast, so I was hoping that they (along with the rival schools and Nanjirou) would be the constants that would stick around forever, but I guess they have their own things to do, too. :( Shall miss those kids.

Ah, yes, I read the new Kaidoh... I hope he's okay. I was really looking forward to seeing all of the new cast, but I guess it'll have to wait. ~_~ And I'm sure it's not as serious as Yanagi's accident. You have to be in tip-top condition to be able to participate in something as physically trying as Tenimyu, so it isn't necessarily a huge "holycrapno" thing like it was for Yanagi. Still, I'm still sad, but I'm looking forward to his return. Ganbare, new!Kaidoh-kun~!

(No worries. Long comments are fun. XD)
From: [identity profile] vanillacat.livejournal.com
Oh, that's almost a relief, because all things PoT seem to have been established a long time ago; after all, the copyright thing on the anime (since I was watching the dub, lolzomgwtf, and noticed this) was on 2001. o__o Actually, looking back, I think I watched them somewhat in order (I have a meme about Tenimyu, and it's all Old!Cast. :O) but unfortunately, by the time I made a real leap into the tenimyu fandom, it was New!Cast time.

Well, thank god Nagayan has a huge fanbase on the tenimyu community, not to mention his own fancommunity, or else I would be pissed liekwoah. *Pnish* stuff is fairly easy to find as well, which is great, because my old!cast favorites are Naga and MoriEiji. However, if you were, say, a... I don't know, hardcore Abe fan? I would imagine it would be close to impossible to find stuff about him, mostly because there seems to be no hardcore Abe fans actively seeking him out. A shame, really, since Abe is cool, yo.
I'm dead serious about going back and watching the older myus, though. :D it's the summer, not like I don't have time... Now, where did I put MTL?...

HYOUTEI = <3! This is a personal thing going, but I was going to get seriously pissed if they didn't pick a cute, actually acrobatic Gakuto, but THEN THEY WENT AND DID IT AND I WAS HAPPY YAY. Takumi is smex on a stick and perfect for the role, and like... Yes. We've been over KamaDate, and how they win at life and are so SilverPair. TAKUYA was ghetto-fab, and he was a nice Jirou too. Even Kabaji and Hiyoshi's actors win at their roles.
XDD @ the smexy Suwabe Junichi comparison, though, they both can sing!~ Although unfortunately Kazuki's real singing voice is rather... high. o__o A tenor, I think. But he makes an amazing on-stage Atobe, complete with the evil eye of Ore-sama-ness. XD A

HYOUTASMIC. ABSOLUTELY HYOUTASMIC. <3

Come to think of it, the blood of love sounds vaguely PuriPuri-ish... made me think of Adachin's "PEACE OF DANCE! :D" speech. ^^;;
But yeah, I suppose the ichinen have better things to do with their time... *sigh* Better paying things, since we know they're talented. D:

For all we know, he could have just sprained his ankle or something. *sigh* Get well soon, new!Kaidoh~ <3
I really am excited about the 3rd!Cast, though. The New!Eiji, although being yet another D-BOY, looks actually Eiji-ish (Probably because he looks like a cat, imo. o__o) and New!Ryoma is adorable (finally, a Tenimyu boy younger than I am! :O) and yay at all the others. Everyone else is like "Boo. A new!cast. Wannn~ T_T" but I think we should give 'em a shot, ne?

(Long comments are fun, especially when you have so much to say. @__@ <3 And they are fun. ^^)

Hehe, it's kind of funny that I feel like I've been in the fandom for a long time. I dunno, I guess it's because the person who got me into it has been in it for waaaaay long, so I always feel like a veteran when I talk to her. XD Or maybe because my sense of time has been skewed to the point of no return, and a couple of days feels like weeks now. ^^;;

Abe. OMG. He has the best floral print shirts ever. That's all I have to say. XDD And I think a few people still keep up with his blog (though I'm not sure how often he posts), so he can't be that difficult to track. ^^;; But yeah, there are some hardcore TutixNagayan fans who make it really easy to keep track of them. >_> MoriEiji is my favorite old cast fella, too. :3 But then KENN and Kamakari came around, and I was like, "Screw Seigaku, whut?" and that was that. ^^;;

OMG, Aoyagi is so cute and acrobatic. Horrible, horrible cradle-robber bait, since about 95% of the fandom is older than he is, but he's perfect. And bouncy. :3 And I'm not a huge fan of Saito, actually (well, I don't dislike him, but Kamakari sort of pwns all, so it's not his fault), but he does make a very yummy Oshitari. And he does have a nice voice, holygeez. Hahaha, Takuya is ghetto-fab. I love pretty Asian boys who can breakdance. :D And Washimi is the cutest big man I've ever seen. I want a plushie of him or something. >< Kawai's abso-frickin'-lutely adorable, and he's a kickass Hiyoshi to boot. I love his part in Aitsu koto ga Tennis no Oujisama. It's definitely the best part.

And yes. Katou. (He gets his own paragraph break.) He makes an awesome Atobe, and his Katobe is better than his normal singing. >< But he's best when he's being a perv/dork on MabeRajio. :3

And yeah x 1000000000 for KamaDate. Kamakari specifically. Well, Date, too, because he's so cute and about a month younger than me, and wow do I just want to find him one day and hug him. :3 But Kamakari's my man. I'm so obsessed. So cute and bouncy and fluffy and Kansai-hen ya de and smoldering when he wants to be and stuff. And him? I'd find him and hug him and drag him to the airport and take him home and keep him all to myself in my little corner of America.

He's a frickin' wallet raper, I tell you. :/

OMG, "Peace of Dance". Don't remind me. I was somewhere between "O_o" and ";_;" and "X_x". It was... yeah. O_O;; But I think the Ichinen do have their own things. Hotta does things with *pnish* every now and then, actually. :3 Dunno about the other two, but I'm sure they're around. :D

NEW!RYOMA IS SHOTABAIT. He makes me cry with the cuteness. >< Definitely looking forward to the new cast, yesyes.

Ah, yes, the wonders of summer totally humping our minds. I'm like, oh, today's Wednesday? I thought it was Friday of last week! :D and the rest of my family looks at me weird.

FLORAL PRINT OMG. *suddenly thought of Mizuki* I'm glad people still stalk him, though, because he was cool. :D Oh, yes, the TutixNagayan fans. Kind of scary, but they do seem to have large wallets. All the better for me and you, I suppose. :D Ha, you remind me of my friend, she's a scary, scary, KENN fangirl. Like you and Ken^2, minus the fact that you actually have a wallet. XD We did get the believe single for her birthday, though. :D

95% doesn't include me, unfortunately, (Ahh! I feel so young!) so I can fangirl loudly without pedophiliac repercussions. XDD But he's so much of a baby, compared to the rest of the cast~(Although I think he might be older than Dan's actor, am I right?) I read a fairly hardcore fic with Saitoh x Aoyagi, and I was like, whut? He's 16, gosh. However, Saitoh is pretty dag nummy. :D I'm so glad there are so many pretty break-dancing asians in Asia; it gives my YouTube something to watch. <3 Washimi is not someone I'd really, obsessively fangirl over, but I certainly do admire him and his... wibbliness. XD My vocabulary failed me. Kawai makes me want to give him a hug. <3 A big poofy hug. (Now I have to go back and find his part. XD. *rewatched* OMG YOU'RE RIGHT.)

Katou and his own paragraph break! I like both Katobe and Kazuki-singing-voices. Although, I laughed at the ROUGH DIAMOND cover, because I was like WTF HE LOOKS LIKE SHIROTAN. I generally like listen to MabeRajio, but after awhile my mind hurts, since I'm trying to make some sense of what they're saying and it's not working since my Japanese skills are zero. All I got out of the last one was "Paaakiinggguuuu~" and something about KENN/Aiba's duet. XDD;; Oh, but you do translations, don't you? Mental note: stalk you better.

XDDD;; I would love Kenken more, but you've got
all the love covered. XDD <3 I think it's impossible to love him as much as you do, but wow, he IS adorable and bouncy and kansai-ben yay~

A warning about RLS, though; don't try it at home. One time a couple of friends and I decided, what the heck, let's try to slash some of our guy friends, and the results were rather... um... disturbing. But KamaDate is on that next level, the celebrity RLS level, so it becomes slightly better. I read another fic regarding the two of them, they were playing Strip Jankenpyon. XDDDD I almost shat myself laughing so hard.

Ah, at least you have a wallet that's rapeable. D: Sometimes I can con my friends into ordering stuff for me for my birthday, but alas, the woes of not having a PayPal account/credit card...

That segment made me wonder what kind of drugs they had put Adachin on in order for him to say that. He said it in a strange accent, too, and the .avi file suddenly sprung subtitles, so I was like, uh... omgwtfbbqzorz?

He's going to have thousands of fangirls moaning over their pedophilia. XD Me included. Shota bait, shota bait~ (Although, he's still older than Ryoma should be. o__o It makes me wonder; if they get to 4th!cast, would really will hire a 12 year old? THAT would be interesting.)

Ohhh, it's probably because it's summer!! I thought I was just going insane. ><;; I've had random internal-clock messups before. >_>;;

There was a blog entry Abe wrote once, very enthusiastically, about this ridiculous print shirt (I wish I could find the picture), and he talked about how those types of shirts are his favorite... it was the best thing ever, because you're just like, "Abe... are you serious?" XDD And ohdearlord, IamsuchaKamakarifangirlandeveryoneknowsit. >< It's soooo bad, though, because I feel so ridiculous possessive and stuff, and when someone pops up in the fandom sharing something that I don't have or can't get (which is, like, fifty zillion magazines and whatever DVDs and CDs are coming out soon... I limit myself to the non-magazine printed items for the sake of my wallet/sanity), I sit there thinking to myself, "I LIKE HIM MORE THAN YOU. " Yes, I am a scary fangirl. :/

Aoyagi's so cute. Oh goodness. And you're young, lucky you. You still have some time before people start looking at you and telling you that "you're a bit too old for this type of thing, aren't you?" XD But yeah. RPS fics are scary (but hey, I'm all for KamaDate, i.e. I'm going to hell), and you keep thinking, "These are real people... and some of them are really young..." But Aoyagi's getting older. And taller. Kekeke. XDD

(Mixing the paragraphs up because they relate to each other. XD) Strip janken? The things these people come up with! XDDDD But seriously, you wouldn't believe how loudly I was screaming while Kamakari was pwning everyone, because he's so small and cute and perfectly awawawa, and then he shows up and beats everyone in a stupid game. XD And when Date beat him, OMG, how perfect was that?! ><!!!!!!!!

Shall never try it with friends, though. Ohgod. You guys must be nuts. XDD

And I could go on for ever about the awesomeness of each Hyoutei cast member, so how about a change of pace...? Let's go... SeiRu?! You start. XD

(Also, [livejournal.com profile] moonrainty is the one who does the summaries/translations of MabeRajio. I just share the thing and laugh when I understand something. XD)

(These paragraphs are all over the place now, sorry!) Well, my wallet's theoretically rapeable, but guess who's supposed to be saving up for super-expensive college next year...? >_>;;;;;; But oh well. As long as I come close to $1000 from work this summer, I should be okay. ^^;;;; And be glad you don't have a PayPal account. Seriously. It's the worst thing that's ever happened to me financially. D:

XDD He was doing an "American" accent, I think. And it was supposed to be inspirational and somesuch. Yeah. Adachin. Never liked him. ><;; But the rest of that series is cracky love, yesh. Toothbrush scene made me cry with the beautiful.

Hahahaha, that'd be so messed up to have an actually-12-years-old Ryoma. What a silly idea! Then he'd really be shotabait, and everyone would feel bad about squeeing over him. O_O;;

(We are the comment masters. Oh yes. I don't have a giant robo, but I have a random character from a crack-spinoff that had giant robots in it:
