While I was walking to the car after work today, there were three people outside of the School of Business building, fiddling with their cell phones. Then a fourth came out, and a fifth and sixth in quick succession, and the first thing I thought was, "Are they calling each other or something?"

It's kind of funny, actually. Has technology overrun our lives? I can't imagine going a day without my computer. People depend on these things to survive. And at various colleges (like Notre Dame and Haverford), you're expected to have a cell phone. They don't even put phone lines in anymore.

I'd like to try to live without technology, just for a week. Reading books and knitting by candlelight sounds like my type of thing.

I've had the worst cravings for cheese all day. I'm so, so tempted to go out and get some macaroni and cheese (or even just some cheese cubes) right now. I called my mother in desperate attempts to get some earlier today, but she wasn't picking up her cell phone and therefore came home with no cheese. ;_; I think I'm going to go raid the fridge now, but alas, I don't know if we have any cheddar or American cheese lying around or just that random spicy crap with real bits of dead body! inside. Daddy laughed at me when I called it "the scary cheese".

Hm, living without technology is kind of annoying. For Outward Bound I went 45 days without real techonology aside from flashlights and the burners for food. I can't picture not having the burners to cool food, I'm not much for constructing fires myself :P

Hehe, I think if I did something like that, the only thing I'd want to do is construct fires. :D

45 days, though... wow... Are you sure you're still alive? *pokes*

Heh, I was exhausted everyday, though in a good sort of way :P Activities changed every week. One week was hiking, another was living on a boat, interesting times ^^ I'm too lazy to everrrrr do that again though!

I don't use my computer every day anymore, especially now during the summer, but I can't imagine NOT having one. Brrrh. I have to admit I probably couldn't live without a computer (or internet! so spoiled). =_= I can't imagine being cell phone-less either anymore... and I'm part of the generation who remember the time before these things XD; Just imagine how it'll be for the kids now growing up...

Hahaha, we're all so spoiled. >< I think I'm probably part of the generation where no one had anything in grade school but we all teched out during high school, so we all associate technology with "higher education". Or something. ^^;;

Maybe XD It's funny, I pretty much always carry some form of portable music player with me - have since before high school. Back then it was an ancient (now anyway) cassette walkman, then a portable CD-player, then a minidisc player at some point and now an mp3 player... I wonder what it'll be in another 5-10 years? :3

We'll all have metal plates in our heads that broadcast personalized radio stations. Duh.
